Default Pheniox 35 ESC & Heat Question

I have a corona 120 that has been flying fine for over a year using a Mega Brushless motor, Pheniox 35 ESC and a stock canopy, I decided to install a fully closed Bell ranger 206 fuselage and flying in the summer heat of vegas with this canopy may be causing problems!

Ever since I installed the Bell 206 canopy, lately when I fly, the Motor just SHUTS OFF in mid flight, dropping the heli like a rock, But then when I disconnect the battery and plug the battery back in again the heli runs fine again, although I never attempt to fly again that day after that scare, I ground check the heli and it runs again!

My Question is this; Will the Pheniox 35 ESC shut off the motor or shutdown everything if it over heats ???????

After snooping around the forum tonight and reading lots of the same complaints about Castle Creations ESC, I guess the answer to my above question seems to be [size=2]YES! Don't know why my CC P-35 ESC would do this to me after a year, So I'm blaming the new closed canopy, although I read that others had the same problem with no canopy on!
My next question is, If I keep my brushless Mega 16/15/3 motor, what's a good replacement for my CC Pheniox 35 speed controller?, So that I no longer have the motor cutout problem!

P.S. I dont think I want to replace my Castle Creations Phnix 35 ESC with another Castle Creations product, So what would be a good replacement that can work with my Brusless Mega 16/15/3 motor and my Thunder 11.1v 3cell 2100 mAh Lipo battery. Also, the New speed controller must fit my Airtronics Receiver, So the new ESC must have a receiver plug that fits Airtronics or JR connectors!

P.S. My gears and pinions are stock, never had a problem with it, see no reason to change that.

So a CC Phenonix 45 would work better than the CC35 for my problem ?

If I knew that it was the BEC system cutting out, then I would just simply cut the red wire on the ESC's receiver plug and add my own Battery pack as described in the CCP35 manual, But if it's a heat related problem then I would like to try mounting the ESC outside the heli in the under belly of the heli. But if a CC45 can work, then I just may try that!

Well, there's no guarantee's, but I had the same problem and when I changed to the 45 the problem went away. So I say its just food for thought. It may help you, it may not. I do really like the programmability of the CC electronics though. Prolly why I stay with them.

Actually I solved the problem without purchasing another ESC, all I did was mount my ESC 35 to the outside under belly of the heli and it runs much cooler now........
