Trimming for Forward Flight
 

My Corona 120 is trimmed so that it hovers nearly hands off. The CG is slightly nose heavy. After transitioning to forward flight I have to hold a lot of forward pitch. If I relax the pitch input it will seriously pitch upwards, then appear to stall. The battery is mounted underneath on the landing gear. Is this characteristic of the Corona?

If you don't want to spend the money you can heat the center of the subrotor with a hairdryer, and twist the subrotor blades till there is no more postive pitch. This will help with the upward lift you have at the end of your ff, or as you enter into a turn. I will take more throttle to get you heli up though. Good luck.

I dont know if anyone else have ever tried this but I have actually trimmed out my heli in a hover set the transmitter on the ground and as the heli went out of hover it would fly a little ways pitch up swing around fly a little ways pitch up swing around fly a little ways. It will do this until I got back on the controls. Over the years, Ive gotten use to the pitch up until it really dosent bother me. For just fun flying around, its not that bad.

Thanks to all for the comments. I know that the Corona has always piched up to some degree, but it seems to have increased substantially of late. I think I'll try the CF flybar. I like trying new things. If anyone would like to experiment with Choppa's cyclic conversion I have all the bits and pieces. I'm one who tried hard but failed to make it work as advertised. I gave up and restored the Corona to stock. Now I having fun once again.
