Lh110 Convert To Electric - Please Help!
Dear Reader
My name is Sachin, and I am currently attempting to convert my LMH110 to electric. I am undergoing two serious problems right now and I was wondering if I could get some help from any of you out there. But first let me describe my setup: Original LMH (original shorter blades, 5 pitch blade grips) with: 1 x gy130 piezo mounted up front. 1 x JR R600 Receiver up front , opposite to gyro 1 X 40 amp speed control , mounted 2 inches away from motor. 1 x 1700 Sanyo pack (7 cells), firmly suspended below, main gear. 1 X Dynatech 02h motor ( by tamiya) using 10 tooth pinion. 3 X JR 331 servos. Heres my problem: 1. Motor and speed control really heats up! Dont know exact specs on motor. this motor is pretty old though, worn brushes as well. Any suggestions on what new motor I should get for this setup? I need to know in certain terms: ( ie. Should it be a 13turn double etc.) I dont want to buy the wrong motor that doesnt deliver the power. 2. Constant tail wagging no matter what i do! Gyro seems fine, but what can Ido to help this stop. I'm new to piezo gyros, and I did everything I was told to do to set it up. Some suggested that the gear was slipping on my tail drive wire. tried that, but still to no avail. I'm really jealous, reading all your guys perfect 5 seconds off the control "boasting" and I would like to do the same with mines. Someone please help!! If only you guys could see my sad face! :( |

I was having a tail glitch problem and mad swinging..
My setup was the recommended stock way gyro stuck to the side under the rx. basically I got tired of the tail causing so many problems.. so I read through about 500 posts regarding this exact same subject I tried everything BUT making a small plywood platform to sit above the tailboom behind the crutch. So I broke down and repulmbed the wiring no wires are close to each other except for the servo wires... And I made a little tray that sits over the tail boom on top of the crutch.. well after a month of these tail glitches.. that solved my problem!! hope this helps Gregg |

As for the motor, the Kyosho Atomic Force is the one to go with (if you are going to use a brushed motor). They are about $20 at Tower Hobbies.

I read in another post that you have to install the capacitors on the motor. The brushed motor make RF signals and screws with your gyro. I dont know how to link the thread, but do a search. Thread title " Atomic force capacitors" in the LMH helis catagory. I
Im looking in to getting a hacker motor and a heading hold gyro. Anybody know the price of the hacker motor???? :devious: |

Hi Sachin,
I made a conversion of my 110 to electric about 2 month ago and I really like it. Like hs748 said, you should go with the Kyosho Atomic Force motor. It's a 17 turn double but the brushes are bigger than normal size. That's what I'm using. About the tail wag, can you give me more details. This is my set up. Atomic Force motor 9 tooth pinion motor heat sink 8 cells Nimh 2000 mha Panasonic Heli-Max micro gyro Pegasus heli esc Also, how did you suspended your battery pack below the main gear, I would like to do the same. It sounds like your gain is set to high, don't know if you already checked that, if not, lower it until it stops trying to overcorrect itself. Aside from interference problems, also try moving the linkage to a more innermost hole on the servo horn and/or on the tail rotor horn. That will help too........

Also, how did you suspended your battery pack below the main gear, I would like to do
I can help u on this one, get yourself the E Voyager landing gear, it has mounts to run your battery under the main gear. It also looks really nice, you can get aluminum skids for it too. you just gotta fab up an extension for the back, it's really easy. The new landing gear looks really nice and is wider than stock too which always helps.

Thank You!
Dear Readers
Thanks for your input! I'm sure your information will surely settle all doubts and problems I've been experiencing: With regards to your replies -- fig8 - This one I'm gonna try. will mount it tonight and give it a test flight. Thanks! Sylvian - you say you converted your LMH to electric. Did you upgrade it to corona, or just use your stock LMH. Because I Feel that the atomic force might do justice for the corona since it has longer blades, and the motor being a 17X2. I had a chat with Larry from lite machines and he said the fusion motor was 13X2. This gives a lot more speed/power. But at the end of the day, I just really need to be 100% that a 17x2 will do justice with my shorter blades, and with all the specs listed above. Will It lift my heli with enough power???? Ninob49 - Thanks for your input as well. I do have capacitors soldered to my motor. Thanks. Astronut30 ( nice name) - Astronaut: Guy travelling in space.... Astronut - Mad guy with head filled with nothing but space. :D I really like that name............. Thanks for your reply.. but I set the gain on high, looked for wagging, turned gain down a bit, looked for wagging, etc etc. Still no luck. Thanks again, really appreciate your guys input. |

Hi Sachin,
my 110 is original with the short blades. The AF is the way to go. I have more than enough power with my 8 cells Nimh packs. But I don't have experience with 7 cells pack. If you have more cash to spend, a Mega 16/15/3 brushless will be even better (140$US with 25 amp. esc) . The weight of my battery pack is about 13oz. I think you should take a look at the Ezone, there is a lot of information about cenverted 110. Let me know if you need more informations. Thanks..........Sylvain |
