Temperature issue
I live in Canada (AKA The North Pole) and its cold here.
I was wondering if there is a Temp limit on when i can fly? Hover Time: 0 , Crash: always :stupid: |
Temperature issue
Yea, until you cant bare the numbness of your fingers. Everything plastic becomes more brittle the colder it gets so watch those blade strikes.

So the fuel wont turn into gel or anything?

Temperature issue
It cant be that cold there. Youre gonna have to hit some serious negative degrees for that to even happen if it will happen.

Methanol freezes at some -140F! Of course the nitro methane freezes closer to -20F... I don’t know where your particular blend of fuel will gel up, but I have never had any trouble with fuel well below 0F.
I would be more concerned about my hands freezing off. Do you wear some sort of gloves when you are flying at -40F? I have been looking for a pair of gloves for some time that keep my hands somewhat warm while allowing a good feel of the control sticks. Spiro |

If you guys wanna know its about -20 here in the winter !!

The combination of methanol and nitro methane (which are totally miscible to my knowledge) should yield a freezing point significantly below –20. I wouldn’t think you would have any trouble with the fuel. Having gone to several “frozen fingers fly in’s” and I have always had much more trouble starting glow engines in general than I have had any specific problems with fuel. It is just tough to get enough heat into the glow plug in those temperatures to get the fuel burning. Luckily smaller engines have always been easier for me to start in the cold. For what it is worth, I have started my LMH below 32F but never below 0F.
Regardless, I can’t imagine flying in that temperature. When doing this I need rock solid fingers. I might as well be trying to hold a scalpel during facial surgery… How do you do this in these kinds of temperatures? Spiro. |
Temperature issue
Not well. Multiple layers of clothing but i can still feel like freezing
2 feet of untouch snow on a big field looks cool. Sometimes the sun light reflecting of the snow makes me see stars :( The snow helps on crash landin. |

Sonic,
You are complaining about the temperatures there!?!!?! Try living in Thompson, Manitoba. We have snow here 7 months of the year! Jarrett |
