How does wind Affect your flight performane?
 

Dear Readers

How many of you find that you cant fly in any wind at all, or find it way too difficult to control

Little wind just takes my heli higher and Higher! I can trim down on my throttle , but that does not seem to help. It still takes long for it to even budge from that height.

It generally requires me to cut my throttle close to "Full Down" to get it to descend. But then it descends to fast and it takes time for me to build up speed. Ive seen videos on the internet etc and when noticing the windsock in the background, I can see these guys flying their coronas in quite heavy wind; and only wish I could as well.

It flies extremely well on calm days, but when theres a good breeze, I keep her grounded.

Please, anyone out there with the same problem or any advice, please drop me a comment.

What blade grips are you using? Im using 4-4 blade gripes and Im also flying even in mild windy conditions (5-10 mph winds) The stronger the wind the more a challenge it is. Also adding weight to the heli will help a lot when flying in windy conditions. I also fly with a custom body installed which adds some weight which helps me out a bit and also Ive redesigned my crutch in which I fly with an extended mainshaft which gives me a higher rotor head which results in a more stable flying machine. With my carona I absolutely cannot fly in wind conditions strong enough to mess up my hair. When it gets to that drgre of wind I can no longer fly comfortably for feer of crashing. Also, without the canopy on, I find there is more controol in windy conditionsbut then I lose the air bag :( so I try not to fly without my canopy. I would agree with Darth that lowere degree blade grips will improve stability but I am not willing to change down to 5 degrees as my 6 degrees barely get's me in the air for long (darn brushed motor).

Most LMH fliers out there seem a lot braver than I am when it comes to wind. If there is any perceptible wind at all, I call that a bad day. If it is more than 1-2 mph, I don’t even bother flying. I would consider 5mph ridiculously windy. I fly mostly to have fun and it just stops being fun for me when I am sweating bullets over the wind.

Go with two #4 grips this will increase rotor speed.
I have found that more pitch dose not give you more lift, if you don't have the power in the first place.
