I got a used muggy and was running it for the first time when it started to slow down, the motor was running fine and revving normally but it wouldn't go fast anymore. I checked and changed the shoes and clutch bell, put losi long wear shoes and a 12t vented cb on it. Took it out the next weekend and ran it around for awhile, less than a tank, and it started to slow down again like before. I checked the shoes and cb and they were fine, just minor wear so I don't think it was the clutch slipping. I am running 420's with stock wheels and tires off an XXL and everything else is stock as well. I am planning to redo the diffs with 7k,10k,5k (f,c,r) as soon as Ican get my hands on the diff oils (been reading a lot here and elsewhere).

Does anyone have any ideas as to what might be causing my muggy to be slowing down or where to look to find the problem?

Thanks!

Is the engine reving fine? if so maybe pull the diffs out and check inside see if anything is amiss?

I think it is the brakes sticking. I was running again yesterday and it did it again, after I let it sit for a bit and went back to it it was fine, I was using the breaks quite a bit sliding around in the loose grass and dirt. Is there an upgrade for the stock brakes to keep them cooler and from sticking? Also, my brother in law just got a Muggy too, he and I both broke front shock shafts the first time we took our Muggy's out and jumped them. Has anyone else had a problem with this? They are breaking right at the threads just inside the rod end. I want to keep the 420's on my Muggy, half the reason I bought it, what upgrades do I need to do to have a successful basher, it has big joe's on it right now, also have zombie max and some other offroad tires to put on all 420's. I have the long wear losi shoes and a vented clutch bell, so far so good since putting them on after smoking the dynamite shoes, and have ordered the 5k,7k, 10k, diff fluids.
