Default Black Horse Models FW190 A8 70"w.s.

Anyone seen the new Black Horse Models Arf of the FW-190 A8 ?
It's about the same size as the out of production CMP FW190, but this one is all built up and even has split flaps and air oleo retracts.
I hope it's not as outrageously priced as their bigger other ARF's cause it looks like it coud make into a nice bash project.

Here's the instruction manual:

There's a descent flying video on their site too.
Pretty wicked; I have several BHM arf's that I've bashed and every one of them is excellently buildt and fly great...I want one of these !!!

I've seen the only one in country in person and it is a VERY nice representation of the FW190. It successfully flew its maiden last weekend on electric power. My guess is that the airplane will be priced similarly to the 70" corsair.

I've contated both Hobby People (West Coast) and VAModelbuilders (East Coast) -[both BHM distributors] they both said soon, but the manufacturers are secretive about the release date.
April/ May is anticipated

I can't wait for this to hit the states either. I saw it at the AMA show and was amazed how scale it looks. Perfect size without the "extra" weight (ala ESM).

I know someone who works at Hobby People and they are telling me they don't show anything in their system of the kit coming any time soon :-(

Hi all
Anyone has build one of these or have experience with one? Black Horse FW-190A. I have got one on the way and not sure if 26cc gas engine or 120 4 stroke is best. Anyone flew this model?
Thanks guys.

My BH Focke Wulf FW-190A  1.20 size arrived two weeks ago.
As expected its a well made built up structure through out and the vinyl covering is fantastically detailed and weathered in places.
Like all ARF' its a bit too glossy but nothing that a single coat of fine clear automotive paint won;t cure easily.
The cowl is big enough to accept a DLE 20 with the spark plug cap still inside it. I'm thinking  DLE30 is the 2ay to go with a expecte weight of 4.8Kg (Black Horse seems to get their built weights right. I assume its specced for a OS F1.20 which is quite a weighty beast so I'm confident a Saito 1.50 or 30cc will fit without much modification.

As soon as I start assembling I'll post up a build thread. For now I first need to find a suitable engine and retracts and scale details on the gear.
The supplied colour scheme is not from any specific FW-190 like Priller's orKirchmayr, Stamberger or Hondt's aircraft.
The serial 990018 never existed as far as I can tell but thats fairly easy to convert to 960018 which did exist although under a different camouflage to the one supplied.

I'll have to find a suitable 190 to model this one on</p>

Hi TimBle,
This model is not yet available in the USA. If you would post pictures of your build it would let us over in the states see what we are missing. I look forward to buying this plane some day when it IS available here !

alrighty, build thread I will do. Not sure on power plant as yet but cooling is 23cm in diameter and engine length should be around 145 mm.a DLE 30min side carbs would be ideal or a DLE20.Perhaps a Mintor 33 will also fit. Pics on the bits in the box to follow over the next 24hrs.

TimBle, thanks for posting. What is a side carb on a DLE 30?

I am looking to get one of these as well. As best as I can tell, the DLE 20 is just the right size, whereas the DLE 30 is too long by about 1.5 inches. If the carb of a DLE can be relocated, yes, then it would be great. Is this what you mean? If so, how can it moved?

Thanks in advance.

Well mine has arrived and this model looks really nice, With some very good details on the vinyl, I am planning to put in the ccrcpro gp26r 26cc gas engine the
new batch with the carb at the back of the engine, Also arrived today hope it is a good engine, Ready to start the build now, lado or some other electric retracts for me, happy with the lado that i used on my last build bh corsair 55cc. Although the air retracts supplied looks OK and there was no leaks upon checking them i prefer electric. Also a+ for black horse that they left the canopy unglued so we can mod as we want. here are some close pics and also a very similar real one. funny enough that F-AZZJ on the back is my name and surname initials. will keep posted on the build.

ok so after some digging around today and taking measurements I need an engine with a length not longer than DLE20 i.e. 135mm because the engine has to be mounted with the prop hub 150mm from the forward fire wall.
The cowl diameter is 22.5cm so I have 11.25cm or 112.5 mm of space before the cylinder head meets cowling.
Based on those dimensions the MVVS 26/30 SP IFC/RC engine is the energy converter of choice. I think I will opt for the 30cc, I like power in reserve. Also the exhaust options require less modifaction that other engines to allow for a scale exhaust exit on either side of the cowl. Also the beam mount of the 30cc IFS/RC is perfect as it allows as little rework of the firewall.
Will be placing the order by the end of the week.

Plane will require around 9 servo's. I am doing the math on a S-Bus set up for this as I am seriously considering E-Flite worm gear electric retract units or similar. I was planning on using simple high torqu analogue servo's but I want the staggered and slow retract action so the best way to achieve that is via the retract servo units.

Busy uploading pics of the basic ARF and wil have them up in an hour or so.

Does the fuse look like it could take a scale cockpit with some bashing?

Why is it taking so long for this to hit the US?!?!

I hope when it does arrive here, they offer it without the air retracts...

Anyone consider a Saito FG20 or FG30 Gas? Expensive engines but great sound!

And what are those strange fairings on top of the engine cowling? Looks like some 'imaginative modelling' at the mould making factory...

Yes the cockit has a recess under the instrument hood before the factory instrumentation decal was applied. Ihave a scale cockpit on order from a mate of mine. It will fit in the recess in the instrument hood. Cockpit floor needs to be lowered though to accomodate a full cockpit with joystick etc.
