Can Anyone Identify This Gasser?
Hello,
Can anyone help identify this plan I bought off craigslist and rebuilt? The guy I bought it from got it from an estate sale bundled with the previous owner's fleet. The only thing he could tell me was that it is probably from the late 80's or 90's. It has an aproximate 96" wingspan and is about 80" long.

RE: Can Anyone Identify This Gasser?
You know, I looked up the Spook and had the idea to add the cockpit and build up the top of the fuselage. It wouldn't take but a few hours and wouldn't ad that much more weight. Only thing is that it puts the weight in the back and I'm already a little tail heavy. It sure would add some good looks to the model.
Do you think with the Royobi I have enough power to add a little more weight?

I got the engine running and installed. It runs great. I have a quick question of what I can expect with this Royobi. It has an 18" prop. Don't know the pitch. It is kinda beat up so I want to replace it. What should I staet with and what RPM should I get?

I would imagine it is a 18 X 10. Don't be shy, take it along to match one up at the Hobby shop. The airframe may benifit from a 20 X 8 if you are thinking of trimming it out (thrustwise) for your preferance.
As for RPM, if it transitions good, and pulls the airframe well that should be "about right". If the transition lags somewhat, or the needles seam very sensitive (lean, then rich easily), to much prop.
Hope this helps.

an 18x8 should be appropriate for a 31cc Ryobi, don't put too light of a prop on it as the connecting rod tends to go if the static RPM is beyond 8000rpm, so keep it to something that has a similar load as a 18x8 or 18x6.
