Default Site problems

Hi folks,

This is Paul, the Community Manager for the Travel & Leisure division of Internet brands.

I wanted you to know, as directly as possible (as I am one of the voices of our technical team), that we are hearing you, and we are responding to this issue.

Last Thursday, we experienced a serious hardware issue with RCU. Every day since then we have been tracking the causes of the problem and working to resolve it. The bad news is that site performance has been, to say the least, compromised. Unusable, for a lot of members. We apologize for that, and truly hope you stick it out through this with us.

The good news is that when this issue is resolved, the hardware and software on which the site is running will have been gone through with a fine-tooth comb, and I expect the site to be running better than it has in a long time. Along with actual *planned* upgrades to the forum, I hope and believe that RCU users will see in the coming weeks and months a vastly improved site, and ideally better than it's ever been.

I appreciate your feedback, and if you have more, please email me directly at any time at [email protected].

I'll keep you in the loop on our progress, and thank you again for working with us on this.

Best,

Paul O'Brien

Well there ya go - travel & leisure - I've only seen leisure as an alternative type of travel to business - to indicate the type of traveler and their expectations and willingness to pay full fare or not.

Must be a marketing ploy - - maybe the (ab)user won't remember anything past last week 'cause he/she has a real short memory.

As previously stated: REALLY????

A moderator, who has had onlytwo posts since joining RCUon 4/1/2011? No red flags here, nothing wrong with that picture. Really.

My theory is that all the weird problems going on with RCU are due to global warming, the depletion of the ozone layer, and sunspots. As soon as all those are cleared up, the problems will go away. Just hang in there a few thousand years and everthing will be okay.

Here's an update:

The techs have traced a problem with images being posted to the site and locking up the server. The plan is to lock out large images, and require them to be posted as an attachment, rather than pasted into a post.

This change will happen in the next few days, and when it does it is possible that parge images already on the site may be lost. It's recommended that you begin using the attachment function now.

I'll have more information after the change is made. It's hoped that this will forestall the site performance/page hangs issues.

Thanks,

Paul

Thanks,

It has improved a little, but not where it can be used like it used to be. Still a lot of time outs, missed posts,500 and lock ups when changing threads.
Sorry no good new.
Larry K

And if you just want to read the first post on each thread OK but don't try to go any further

You really don't want our input , because it shows how sorry this site is getting.

I am not going to say how long it took this post to get here
