Hydraulic oil from Walmart works pretty good

Canopus 13 or Corvus oil from Texaco works well also (sometimes spelled "Corvis")

Aeroshell Smoke Oil
Texaco Canopus 13 or 19
Texaco Corvis 13

Exxon Telura 613
Petro Blend Smoke Oil
Shell Carnea 10 or 22
Shell / Exxon Carnea E-15 (10 weight)
Shell Vitrea 13 or 22
Super-Dri

American Rayco 460
BP - Enerpar 20 (viscosity rating of 10)
Citgo Sentry 15
Conoco / Phillips "Industrial Oil" (10 weight)
Conoco / Phillips 80N and 70N
Meadows Concrete Form Oil (oil base), (stinks but it works)

Unocal 76 - 76 Klondyke

Is the Walmart hydraulic fluid equal more or less to Corvis or Canopus?

I don't think the Walmart hydraulic oil is quiet as good from a smoke point of view but it is easy to get and about the same price as the Corvis

The Skywriter is an awesome pump. Run it on a seperate 6volt battery. Superdri is the best oil out on the market, but if you want to mix your own, its 33% deisel fuel, 33% kerosene, and 33% automatic transmission fluid. Good-luck.

A guest flyer was burning some home brewed stuff. Smoke looked terrible and it stunk bad. Super Dri is much better

For little to no clean up use super dri and if you have oil residue under your plane turn down your smoke pump. Set up your pump and pump water thru it for 15 minutes to wear in the gears, can make a big difference.

Im cheap, I just use deisel fuel.

It cheap and when im at the gas station makeing my 2 stroke, Ijust fill up my little gal smoke jug. I have also added a splash of 2 stroke oil in the deisel wich gives a little better smoke.

Just rember don't turn your smoke on at low RPM, I use my smoke to shut off my motor after Iland,

I love turn the smoke on after I land, but never while while landing as it can couse your motor to shut off.

I power mine with a cheap HK 2s 800mah lipo.

Also remember you will use smoke faster than your main fuel.

You will want to be careful with some of these home brews because they can damage film type coverings and even paint finishes. I am using a 50/50 mix of kerosene and mineral oil, which I get at my local tractor supply store. kero is $4 gal and the mineral is $18 so for $22 I get 2 gal of oil and my 20cc engine will use 12 oz in about 45 sec of continues smoke. I found that if your volume is turned up to high you will cool the muffler off too much and waste alot and get less smoke.I was atan event this fall with full scale planes and one of the pilots asked what I was using because I smoked better than his full size. Lots of choices this is just one, but it smells alot less than some others like diesel, and wont hurt the finish like form oil and brake fluid. I also use a separate lipo 1500 mah 7.2v and my pump is Sonic Tronics Good luck and have fun with it.

You realise that Diesel fumes and exhaust fume, untreated via catalyst has been raised to the level of carcinogen by the World Health Organisation...

I have been using a 50-50 mix of liquid paraffin and baby oil for some time now
Smokes a dense white smoke and hangs in the air better than many of the commercial brews
Added bonus - the baby oil is often scented so it even smells good
