I have several Evolution glow engines and like them very much. Do the gas engines have bushings in the con rod ends? What percent oil do they need in the gas mix? What is the current draw on their ECDIU?

Thanks.

Pete,

What are the dimensions from the crank centerline to the top of the spark plug cap for all three engines? I wish these dimensions were given in the manual. Also, on the 33, what is the overal length from firewall to prop hub?

Yes, the wrist pins all have bushed bearing surfaces.

Thanks,
Jimmy

I looked at their 33cc...a handsome engine with its blue head. Engineering specs is where it's at tho. Bore and stroke are very similar to the DLE35RA and PTE36R.

It's rather interesting that the engine has both mounting side lugs for bearer mounting and rear lugs for stand off mounting. That'sone reasonthe engine is heavier than others in this class, at least 4 ozs heavier.

I really like the one nut prop mount like glow engines which the SAP180HP and OS GT33 also use. No more screwey screws...a great thing in my view. The price is pretty good too.

It will be interesting to hear how this one works out for people....

Corvette,

The heights are as follows:

From C/L to top of plug cap:
15cc: 102mm
20cc: 109mm
33cc: 126mm

Use these as a guideline, if you need a more detailed (within 1/2mm estimate) please PM me.

Thanks,
Jimmy

It seems that all of the engine companies are shifting their lines to gas. We're seeing the end of glow just like the 72 to 2.4

Pete
You mentioned in the 10cc posts that you flew the 10cc engine in the Saratoga during development and it was an excellent match. Would the 15cc liven up the Meridan with out breaking things.

Yes there is plenty of room to mount the 15cc in a Meridian.

I've ordered 2 15's for my 50 size Corsair and P-40 already! Must resist the P-51 and the 10 combo for now. Hoping for an Axis plane for a little variety.

I really regret buying that CRRC For my .90 size 3D plane.
I have been serching for a good replacement since that 20cc Saito turned out to be non running POS.

Ditto on the CRRC. I've got mine running but it was mis-timed, the ignition unit failed, and it's heavy and low on power. Live and learn.

I wonder if they are going to be as unpopular as the front carb OS GT 55.

I suspect the MVVS IFS 30 will kick the Evolution 33 into touch in the power game

I have several of the H9 warbirds that need building.. Spit, Hellcat, and Thunderbolt... Im thinking the 20cc would be the correct choice??

Does anyone happen to know the width of the muffler on the 33cc motor?? Im going to be starting my rascal 110 shortly, and this caught my attention... either that or Syssa 30cc.. Im looking to not hack the cowl if necessary, and I know the syssa fits perfect...

For the Spit and the Thunderbolt, the 15GX would probably be better. You might look at the 20GX for the Hellcat, but I'm sure the 15 would fly it nicely, too.

I prefer better-than-scale power in warbirds because I think it's more fun; however, in recent years I've started to balance that element with keeping the airplane light. This is why I'd look at the 15 first for these airplanes.

Another question, still Evolution, but not gasoline: I have the .61NT, and like it a lot. However, will a .61NX head work on it to make the engine a .61NX? Comparing the parts lists for the two engines it seems the head is only one with a different part number. The NX head is higher compression, right? Still use the same plug and fuel? Thanks.

Evgeny, the engine is heavier because it's built just like the smaller glow engines with a separate steel sleeve...

Yes you are correct. Changing the head will make the conversion. Same plugs and fuel.
