Default LMRA Aeromodelers Indoor Float Fly

Saturday May 21st (5 to 9) has been set aside at the Keller Natatorium in Keller Texas to host our next 3rd Indoor Float Fly. Folks if you have not done this before you just have to give it a whirl. The facilities are first class and is a hoot to do. The spectators have as much fun as the pilots and are given the best seats in the house (above and behind the flightline and pilots station). Air/Sea rescue is available as well as a lifeguard/mermaid to help recover the downed aircraft and lost objects from the bottom of the pool. We will also have a raffle of a Ready to Fly parkflyer at a buck a pop with all profits being returned to the Natatorium for the drownproofing of the children classes being held by the Red Cross. Last year the group donated over 350 dollars to the cause at the two previous meets. Put it on the list of things to do and come on and have a great evening. Attached is a link to the last float fly. The flyer will be out shortly to all the local shops. http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showt...door+Float+Fly

Default RE: LMRA Aeromodelers Indoor Float Fly

Rules of Engagement for Indoor Float Fly

NOTICE TO ALL PILOTS

Welcome to the LMRA Aeromodelers Indoor Float Fly. A landing fee of $ 10.00 will be charged for the session for LMRA and non-LMRA fliers. AMA membership will be required and card requested at time of sign in. You are showing the flag for a great hobby and people are watching. Any questions concerning any of the following information contact Tom Blakney or Ed Couch. Do not hesitate to ask any question.

Please be advised that any motor over a 350 size or an aircraft that exceeds 16 ounces without floats (19 ounces with floats) will not be allowed to fly indoors. This is an indoor slow fly event and we want to keep it that way. Spinners will be required, no studs/shafts extending past the face of the props. Safety is always our prime concern.

A frequency control board will be utilized, please use tag or token with name inscribed. If your token is not on the board and the proper clothes pin is not on your transmitter antenna, do not turn on. Also, put pin pack and pull token immediately upon completion of each flight, even if you are the only one on that frequency. Unless you are flying, the token does not belong on the board.

Let’s hold the aircraft to four flying at any one time (this also includes helicopters). Please limit flight times to 5 to 7 minutes each as a courtesy to the next person in line to fly. Radio interference can be a problem with the single conversion receivers indoors, so do not turn on unless it is your time to fly. Keep together and fly from the designated area indicated by Tom or myself. Do not spread out, this only causes problems.

Please fly a left hand race track pattern. If you fly against the pattern for any reason, sing out and let the other folks know what is going on. Use an observer/caller to help maintain situational awareness. Observers, keep your head on a swivel, the pilot relies on you. For those of you who would like to yank and bank (3D aerobatics) we will set aside time for you to fly as required; again flight times are to be no longer than 7 minutes. Also, those wanting a clear sky to fly an unusual or high dollar airframe let us know and we will set aside a little time for you also. You are flying at your own risk, mid-airs do and will occur, most of you have done this before, pick up the pieces, grin and get out the glue.

Pilots will fly from the area that marks the center of the pool on the north side of the facility. Pilots will stay within 10 feet of each other and not spread out along the full line of the north wall or corners to fly. Keep the observers to one per pilot, please, to minimize the crowd on the flightline. When removing a bird from the pool, let the rest of the flyers know your intentions.

Above all, fly safely. Tom Blakney will act as “Air Boss” and I will act as “Flight Director”.
Please don’t hesitate to come and see us if you have a problem. If for any reason Tom or I ask you to do something while you are flying, please do it then, we’ll talk about it later after your flight.
