Well, well as they say....it's just a plane.
I took her off on Sat morning about 9:00 and at about 9:01 she decided to head to earth like a missile. The problem I had was disorientation. I had her turning toward me and I thought she was going away and the rest as they say is history.
I smacked it pretty hard....tore up 3 servos, pretty seriously damaged the motor - broke the carb housing and needle value assembly, shattered the cone and prop amoung other essential parts.
Enjoy the pics...I was feeling pretty bad about it until several "old timers" from the club started telling me their crash tales.

Hey I have crashed mine the same way but never as much damage, hit a power line a few weeks ago. Sorry for you loss.
Crashed Nexstar hits power line and tastes just like chicken. I was upside down one time last year did relize it and pancaked into the ground, someone on I-35 saw and called the Police and told them there was a plane crash, hell I had police and fire trucks to help me pick up mine. She can be replaced tho, thats what I tell the wife when she gripes, she can be replaced. Get another for 109.00 from Tower.

Maybe this will help you feel better.
This was a Kangke Cap232-120 that I planted 2 weeks ago.
Sorry to see yours go down. Try not to let it bother you. I know it's hard but you know what happened so now you know what to do about it. [sm=thumbup.gif]

This plane was rebuilt 4 times. And this is a pic of the crash I had Saturday. Actually it was more like a rough landing. I guess the glue couldn't with stand the hole in the ground , but it with stood the take off go figure.
Cheer up me lad , more crashes are to follow. With any luck you will make it through a year with out any.

DON'T THROW OUT YOUR NEXSTAR. I had a very similar crash with my trainer a while back. The fuselage was crushed but the wings, elevator and rudder survived. So, I took a broom stick, put the engine on one end and the ruller/elevator assembly on the other, wings in in the middle and i've been flying it ever since. I will take some pics later and post them up but if you want, you can get that thing to fly again with a broom stick and an hours worth of work.

Had you officially solo'ed? If not, where was your instructor? Just asking... know how it feels to break one up like that. I did my Skylark 56 like that, pretty much a basket case when I finished. What a shame.
The AFS may or may not have helped. Depends on how high you were and how fast you were going. If low, and fast, well, disorientation can do you in pretty quickly, a matter of a couple seconds.. then all you can say is "What was that!!"
Sorry to see that, I have a NexSTAR, pretty scarred up, but it still flys and flys just great. It looks like a trainer (with all the repairs..ha) but what the heck.. it's what got me up there and solo'ed so I love the thing!
MinnFlyer has some interesting ideas about what to do next with the NexSTAR, but from the looks of yours, you may wish to start from scratch. Tower Hobbies sells the fuselage, by the way, if you want to go that way.. you still have a useable wing from the looks of it.

It doesn't look like it, but that Nexstar is repairable. The one in the attached pic was damaged similarly & put back into service.

Dude - publish some pics of the flying broomstick....
I thought about repairing, but the damage was too extensive.
Not only is the fuse totally gone, but both wing tips are crushed and the outer 3 or 4 wing spars on both sides were pulverized, as was the wing connector. IT was a bad one.
I looked at buying new wings and a new fuse, but it proved to be more pricey than buying a new plane -so I went out and bought a high winged Sky raider ARF and just glued the wings together last night - so she's ready to fly this weekend
Regarding whether I had soloed, yep 4 sessions before I augered her in. I feel like I'm competent to fly by myself...just got turned around in the air.
I can't wait to get the Sky Raider in the air - perhaps I'll have one of the "old timers" around to help just in case.

Man I've got a Nextstar and I would almost crash it on purpose just to get rid of it it flys so bad. The only reason I haven't is because we need somthing to shoot at with paint ball's.

Do any of you guys Nexstars Knife edge really well. Mine will do a sweet Knife edge and will hold it the length of the field. Which counting the overfly's and the runway is about 1750ft. It will even do one on take off and climb out in a knife edge. I'm dead serious. I have not modded it any just crashed it a few times.
