By the way...I used a butane solder iron to melt a groove in the underside of the wing for the extra motor wires to sit in making it flush with the wings surface. Obviously be carefull not to melt thru the wing.

Dj, and anyone else interested I got one of my mono/jet mods to fly. It is a different plane entirely now. Now I have to figure out how to get to maintain altitude better. It doesn't porpoise, it swoops. I'm debating winglets or wing extensions. I already did the stir stick mod.

As for light kits, aa mods is/was selling them for 14.95 each. Tim

I want to share my Homer Simpson moment. I normally fly in moderate wind, 3-5 with gusts into the low teens. This afternoon has been dead with gusts in the 3-5 range. My planes would not fly well. I'm being grumpy, wondering why they won't fly well, and looked at tail of the current non-flyer. I keep the elevators down pretty hard to fly. I set the elevators to even and the planes fly fine. The fact is I wasn't looking at my mods, or the conditions, I was looking at the flight characteristics. D'oh. Tim

redmoon,

Putting the motors in parallel draws 2x the normal current. In series the resistance of the motors are added. So 2 5.5ohm motors in series is the same an 11ohm motor. 11 ohms will not draw nearly the current as 5.5ohms at the same voltage. Also, in series the motors dont run as fast. Each motor acts like a 5.5ohm resistor in line to the other.

I'm glad yours are still running. I only know of one other person that sucessfully ran 2 stock in parallel that lasted a while. Havent heard from him for some time so I dont know if its still going or not. I guess every now and then you get one that can take it. The specs on the original part are just to close to the current draw and power dissipation capability.

It may fly forever or the next flight can be your last. Enjoy it while its working.

Tony

Fern, good to hear your mono/jet is running again. Mine is running great , I took a video with my camera sitting on the trunk of my car of my mono/jet with the lights on doing a take off and attempted landing. This thing is very touchy at first with a fresh charge. I will try to post it tonight on you tube.

Thats $ 14.95 + shipping and they do not come a resistor. I ordered these lights and they lasted about 2 mo. before gradually going dim then one of them died. So I made my own , the right way.

Red, You need to do the steering mod next. I think that this is the best mod for improving flight. This has saved me from losing my aa on numereous occasions. It will allow you to steer without having any throttle on. Trust me it comes in very handy.

Chris, Did have any luck at kame-apart.

Hey guys, there are to many pages to look through so....
Is there a mod to make my plane go up faster? I tried the elevators but it dose not do any thing....

Thanks!

Looks good...On my AA I placed a Green light on the left and a Red light on the right. This way you can tell wether the plane is comming or going. This really helps a lot. Trust me.

I guess I'm lucky then. I just finished flight # 29 and all is well. I did find that the extra weight in front can be compensated by added 1 1/2 inches not 3 to each wing and extending the boom 2". I also found that because of the extra power it turns really fast, so I did the mod to the TX for slowing down the power to the turning motors by adding 2 diodes as the diagram showed.

Cobalt, this is the plane that climbed the best for me. And a pic of a funny place to get your plane stuck.

Hey Sama, I told folks you could get the silverlit twin packs, probably. Can you get them? If you can, can we buy them from you? Tim

First flight report on my jet w/ss-blue motors. This thing is a rocket I have to let off on the throttle to get it to turn and then blip the gas just a bit to get it to stay level. At WOT it take a while to turn I think its just going to damm fast.It will take off in about 15 feet , land and take off again with out any effort. Is there any suggestions on prop/motor angle or any body mods to compensate for the extra horse power I now have?

I wonder if the new Hot Wheels radar gun would work on an AA?

Hey all!

Does anyone have a dead AA receiver that i could use for experimenting with?? As in, 1 or more motors won't spin?

Cheers

Ayrton

PS could I add that Tony/ Megabyte at Falcon/ ARS Software & Innovative Solutions
has been super helpful - I'm waiting on delivery of a full-house modified Tx from them - but the site's closing unfortunately [&o]

Colbalt, I believe got a used motor. First, check and see if it is in fact the motor.
You can do this by switching motors. If the motor still won't spin on the side that
originally went dead, then it's the RX, not the motor.
Another way is to remove the motor thought dead and hook up a couple AA
batteries directly to it. If it screams to life, it's probably in the RX.

Nope, no dead RX yet.... yet, hmm.
I thought Megabyte's site was only down for upgrades.
Is ARS done with the AA FET mods? Hope not! I may need future services.
