YF-22 from Skymaster landed. Build begun. Video.
At the Jetpower event I purchased the new F-22 from Skymaster. I saw Ali from Al's Hobbies fly his F-22 and knew I had to get me one asap. Yesterday I unpacked the parts and here's what I have.
1. My two daughters are happy to show off daddy's new investment.
2. The plane and accessories.
3. I sneaked my SimJet Sonic 120 in to see how it fits[sm=spinnyeyes.gif]

Congrats, Stig!
Always liked the looks of the Raptor. It looks like a big plane with your daughters in the background.
looking forward to the flight report[8D]

Hi Ram-Bro.
I got my kit with the tailpipe and fuel cells. I'm using Robart 635 retracts that I already have.
I the kit is an accessories bag with all nessessary parts/control horns for mounting tailrons, wings and finns. The kit also includes an optional gear doors set, that I plan on using.

When will we see it airborne, Stig?
With your normal building pace, this one should be ready in two days or so...??
Is it elevon, or ail/ flap version?

Well, Ståle. Things have been kinda crazy the last weeks with Laxå, Sønderborg and Jetpower meetings, so I guess it's time for some quality time with the family. Depending on how the parts go together, I would say 2-3 weeks from now.

The one in the picture is Ali's own plane. He and his partner flew the plane during the Jetpower event. Mine will look just like it.
I will do a build thread here, when I get started on the kit.

Like you said;---- Somone get a picture of this: Not every day you see guys from different turbine manufacturers get together to help someone, whos turbine won't run. That was a great experience, even if we weren't able to fix it.

RE: F-22 from Skymaster landed in Denmark
Stig, it was me that flew the YF 22 at Jet power (i would not let Ali Fly it )
i was having a few problems as the flights you saw were the first flights and we had a linkage problem on the elevons and was suffering from blow back.
I moved the links down on the servo arms to get more torque and increased the ATVs (they were only at 50% so the servos were at a disadvantage)
we flew it on Wednesday and had 4 flights back to back with no problems.
whilst i was flying it Ali asked me to do sustained full power flying (which i was nervouse about[:@]) but we were on an empty airfield and Ali said he would rather see it "go wrong" here than anywhere else. i did a couple of full throttle passes then did 5 circuits and one reversal [:'(] all at full throttle with no problems (boy she is FAST) and all this with the upper engine in the range (Jetcat 120)
i have really fell in love with this plane. it is a simple no nonsense jet

One of the slower passes. I was about to say i dont know if it was Dave or I that was flying it but given the fact that I got about 2 mins stick time to his 42 I would guess it was him.

Sorry for mixing it up. By the way,---- I was the one who picked up your plane at the end of the runway, when your wheel brakes were out of air

Well. Tonight I started working on the plane. I glued the hinges for the gear doors, made all the plumbing on the fuel cells, and started mounting the finns. I also took a picture of the control horns and accessories. Its great fun to build it. So far everything fits perfectly,----- well,--- allmost. The gear doors were a bit oversize and needed to be trimmed to fit.

RE: YF-22 from Skymaster landed. Build begun.
Rudders are easily retrofitted if you wanted. The guys from Airpac retro fitted rudders onto theirs (Because they had to for American rules) But Even if I were to build another one I still wouldn't go with rudders. As Dave says the model flys well without them and even handles a cross wind on a narrow runway. Also I just have this feeling that rudder control is going to be heavily coupled.
Stig. Looks like it is coming along well. If you need any help or photos let me know as mine is right here. Dont be tempted to put those elevator push rods on the outer servo arms on the 8611's like me! Lots of control throw on the ground but not enough power in the air. [] Moved them in toward the servo and much better now. Solid control response all the way through the speed range

It depends on how much weight it takes to balance them? I myself have only ever balanced one set of my F-15 stabs and didnt feel any difference in the air, but I can see the advatage that it may have for the servo.

Al,
That looks pretty sweet although I think it suffers from that shiny out of the mould look as does my Lightning! Get it flatted down and dirtied and it'll look the nuts!
