Default Super G' owners ~~ This is our thread

Anyone that knows me will tell you I'm in love with the Super Gator. Not the fastest out there, & definilty not the slowest. Good handling, has its moments but can be trimmed to overcome anything.

I'm happy.

Here's some pics through various stages.

The green boat is the white one from the previous pics.

Like I said, I love them so much I bought two.

More.

Engine changes from RC230 to a 260 to 27 Sikk watercooled conversion for the RC engine to now a 27 Sikk aircooled that getting sent out to Fastrat.

Btw,

My best speed so far is 47 mph. Thats with the Sikk 27. The only way to get it there I've found is to loosen the tabs and let it dance. Its just a matter of moments before it either goes over backwards like a tunnel hull or lifts up enough that the prop walks it around and it barrel rolls.

With the Sikk, it has the power that allows me to drop the tabs and push to the lower 40's in race trim. It acts like a different boat with them that way and is almost boring to run. When my engine gets back from Fastrat, we'll have the power to hopefully push it to the high 40's & tabs down. Up? I'm guessing its going to need some weight up front to get to the five oh mark but its do-able.

Starsky & Hutch........ "Just doo iitt"

Double.

I love mine. I am building another boat over winter, but the G stays in the fleet! It will get a complete overhaul though, new paint and the works!

Was actually hoping someone else would start a Super Gator thread instead. [] Its here now so lets rock with it. Didn't realize theres so many G' owners & makes me proud to be a part of the Clique.

Cappy Ramius ... My mind is made up that I want to keep a G' or Super Sport hull on my shelf for a real long time. Hope it doesn't come down to it, but just in case, I've got the pre-nup papers signed.

Eric, just like I said on the other forum eric, you're probably there & don't know it. The altitude is killing you. After some mods, you could try a 257 carb to let that baby breathe.

For the others, if you don't know me by now from the boats & props, I'm Doubledog from over at the other forum. Seems I need to start venturing over here more often as the scenery is changing over there.

Will post more pics this evening if interested. How many of you have tried putting some tape over the two holes in the deck? Might be worth a thought next time you're running for top end numbers.

Hey Jamie
I love the fleet, and admire the pride especially since you’re in high priced hobby land. I just want everyone to know our patriotic forum brother here is going to risk his life in the defense of freedom and go to Iraq for a year; I want everyone who reads this to pray for his safe return so he can once again enjoy his hobby with us.

Yes, I am "the Doubledog" on the other forum (Radio Control Zone). Its a fine place and has allowed me to make lots of friends. People aren't as keen about participating there as they are here. Its sad. My post count is so high becuase its just plain fun to talk boats with people you like. Nuff said.

Now lets talk Super Gators.....~!

Ever seen one with an outboard? LOL

Was bored this evening & dug out the 3.5 outboard just to have a look-see

Check out Enforcer / Warehouse Hobbies. Its the hatch off their ? ? ? I bought this one off of RayDee a while back & haven't gotten around to installing it. Look him up & see if he remembers.

The Aircooled engine sits a little high under normal circumstances so I haven't used it. Besides, don't feel like chopping it up due to my pipe situation. (Yellow Hydro lowered his engine so it might work)

So here is a question for you G owners. What method does everyone use to lube their flex cables. I have to take out the 4 screws holding the strudder bracket to the stand-off bracket to easily slide the thing out, what a PAIN!

Team PRo? Good enough.
I like all the SS hulls and would consider your hull or the SS in a nano-second.

Ok, ok,... make it Rdoubledog & thats me over at JRCBD. Dang, I'm getting busted out all over.

Shaft lube...
Don't know anothe way to tell you after inspecting your pics.
Check out post #3. It has a 260 w/clutch. Thats the newer style end bell clutches WHH started using a few years ago. Notice it has a nice little Zerk fitting for a grease gun. Thats how those of us with that type do our lube. But no matter what, at the end of the day, I'll still remove the drive assembly as it helps prevent rust after a good wipe down w/WD40. Just use a longer allen wrench & all is better.

I'm all about pics, so show some interesting things you've got. Different running shots etc.
