Default DX6 system and servos

Danny,

Can standard servos be used with the AR6000 rx that comes with the Spektrum DX6 tx?

Yes, they will as long as the polarity of the connector is the same, which in most cases will be.

Danny,
If there is more room inside a 40 size plane ,to orient the antennas for best reception, then wouldn't the DX6 work fine in a 40 size plane if you do not intend to exceed say 1000 - 1200 feet distance?

We do not recommend the DX6 for anything other than slow/park flyers and micro/mini helis.

Danny, I understand that Horizon has chosen to make that statement. Maybe due to lack of time to test in big planes or because maybe some people flying 40 or 60 size planes often go to 3000 feet and could lose range. I've no idea what the logic is so I'm asking. I've seen a huge thread on rcforums of guys putting the DX6 on big planes and sending them up well over 2000 feet with no problems unless they intentionally point the antenna at the plane to test the cone theory.
Even if you thought it, I realize as a Horizon employee you couldn't come out and say "hey this will work fine in a bigger plane as long as you don't exceed the 2000' distance and orient the antennas at 90 degrees to each other". However, if there is an actual limitation that has been tested and proven, would you let me know why this receiver will fail if placed in a plane with a 48" wing span (40ish size) but will work in a 36" wing span park flyer (GWS corsair, etc.) if both are flown at 1500 feet away?

When is the tx and rx due out for larger planes? ball park on how much$$?

thanks,
Carl

If it is used in a larger aicraft the user assumes all risk and liability. It is not recommended. It is possible to exceed the range in larger aicraft.

No word on any future systems, stay tuned!

Danny, thanks for responding.
If I'm reading that right, the only issue with putting the AR6000 in a 40 or 60 size planes is that those planes are much larger than a park flyer and therefore could be flown beyond the 2000 foot range if a pilot is not paying attention. Naturally, the pilot would assume all risk if they go beyond the range that is clearly printed.

Thanks,
Carl
I have one on the way!

There is no printed range or stated range. Range is going to depend on the conditions of the day, area, and model. Therefore, there is no fixed range possible with the system.

Will the Spektrum radio work with flight sims like FMS assuming one has a proper cable?

It will work the same and use the same plug as JR systems in regards to training and flight sim operation.

Gidday Danny

I’m about to order A Spektrum DX6, however I’m worried about 2.4Ghz technology because my cordless home phone is a Uniden 2.4 Ghz system four remote phone units about the property, I live on acreage and fly at home, I had a bad experience with a cell phone recently ; I didn’t realize it was in the vicinity and my chopper ended up slamming into the side of the house because of interference from the cell phone, I totally lost control of the heli- and it took me two weeks to get back in air. So the question is obvious will my phone system cause me problems with your remote control gear? I sincerely hope it won’t as the Spekrum DX6 looks and sounds like a wonderful system.

Ralph.

No, it won't. Your phone will not interfere with the Spektrum system. I've used it in my home, I have a wireless router in the house, multiple 2.4 Ghz phones, and have not had one problem at all. I know others in my area also have wireless routers, phones, etc in their homes as well that would be in range on my house.

I know that this is mostlikly a pretty basic question but I'm just getting into all this again. Since the RX is so small AR6000 will it have any issues running with a 11.1v battery?

Thanks

Edit

Found out what I was looking for..Had a brain fart and forgot that my ESC was going to only send 5v to the RX no matter.

Danny,

Can dx6 be used for inverted heli flight? I could not find any wordings on the literature or online specs.
I'm migrating to Micro Electrics and need a new radio. And live 1 block from a park, so i'll be doing plenty of flying around the block.

thx
Rob

Yes, sure can. Just set the pitch and throttle curves up accordingly.

O'Reilly is the Spektrum distributor in Australia, you might contact them for availability.

Danny,

The DX6 is nice, had a small issue with the TX battery going down fast but once I did a few charge cycles with it it last almost 3 hours. That small RX sure is nice to be able to hide away.
