Hey Raf, I been running a Simjet 2300 on a Kangaroo and now on a Cermark Viperjet, just about 21 flights and more starts than that, so far I'm happy with this engine, according to one of my fellow Jet Cat flyers the Simjet has a much faster acceleration, my 2300 has and older ECU so I only get 23 pounds of thrust but it is more than enough to fly the Viper jet, it weights 25 #'s dry, 29.1/2 #'s wet ( the new ECU runs the engines to 25+ pounds), also Simjet has full service now here in the USA for faster service.
I have a friend that also flys a Simjet, a 1200 ( 18#'s of thrust, smaller than a P-70 ) and when he is ready for his next turbine he made up his mine for a Simjet 2300. [8D]
He can tell you that when I do my research on something I do it well.

Hope this helps, let me know if you have more questions.

Artes looks like a good chioce. 7 day turnaround on service. Uses 2 1/2% oil mix while JC uses 5%. Be careful with that.

Cars: Nice input, thanks! I'm definetly looking at the simjets.....

RCguy: What do you mean? I was planning on using 5% oil on every turbine so as not to mess that up. Is that what you mean, Don't use 2.5% in the Jetcat? Is it still ok to use 5% in the Artes? (How is that pronounced? "R-TEES"?)

Thanks,

Raf

The Artes uses a 2 1/2% oil mix and JC uses a 5% oil mix. Simpl as that. Ask Atres if they allow 5% oil mix is any of their offerings. Also ask JC if they allow 2 1/2%. Don't ask me if its OK...I don't sell or warrant any turbine engines.

Hi Raf,

ORIGINAL: ravill

P-120#1 dead as in the above pics.
Sorry about that, tough first flight.

ORIGINAL: ravill

P-120#2 paid for over 2 months ago, and still am waiting for it from jetcat.....[&o]
If I am not mistaken, you ordered a motor direct from JetCat USA, then canceled the order to get one from a distributor. I assume that is who you have prepaid, not JetCat USA. You would have had this P-120 2 to 3 weeks ago, unforunately the cancellation moved someone up the que and they got your P-120.

The distributor did not have any motors in stock. Your P-120 bought from the distributor is in the next shipment of 50 motors, which are about 1/2 presold now, and by the time the motors get here that order will all be sold. The motors have been shipping out an an incredible rate, I have never seen anything like it!

ORIGINAL: ravill

P-120#3 paid for yesterday, jees I wonder how long to wait for that one....
It went out on Friday, the day you bought it. You should get it by Tuesday.

Hope that helps,

Matt,
Where is my engine?
I bought from other source for less.
But is a Jetcat engine. So Jetcat should send me the engine right.

Also got a Simjet 2300.. No issues.. Works great. Now with US repair facility..

Also got an Artes Bee.. Great engine.. No issues. Great service by Eric in the US (the factory is in Mexico, but Eric takes cares of all details.

For the third one, toss up between the Simjet Nexus and an Artes Rhino... This time went for a rhino because I got a good deal..

Matt,

Thanks for the breakdown! Yeah, I changed my order because Eric at skymasters saved me ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS on that P-120, since I bought 2 airplanes from him......That's alot of money!!

I appreciate that you guys are busy and all that, that's great for business and great for us modelers.

BUT, I have given you almost $10,000 ($7,000 directly and $2,800 indirectly, through your distributor) and the delay explanation that I got from Jetcat on friday is that someone has to pay CA sales tax for you to send the P-120 directly to me. And this is why the engine has not made it to me, two months later. This is not what Eric told me. You (jetcat, not you personally!) did not tell Eric this before (I s/w him on thursday) and you did not tell me this either. I have left him a message and he has not called me back yet to arrange the details. Hey, thats ok, I am only posting the fact that I have had to wait over 2 months for an engine that I paid for a LONG time ago.

I won't get buggered over a few hundered bucks but a few thousand dollars difference and even this little country doctor from the bay area may just have to rub his eyes a little! So, $10K just in engines spent. I think it is ok for me to wonder what my money is doing for me! If I have to pay you a few hundred $$ more to get that engine, then I guess Eric could not save me the money he said he could. That's the r/c jet way! Patience and Money!!

Thank you,

Rafael

PS. when are those kerosene starters going to come in stock, I'd like to buy two more!!

PSS: looks like I will have to toss a coin between artes and simjet!

I fly 3 Simjet engines. I have never had any other kind. My 2300 is an older engine with the D2 ECU. Puts out 24 1/2 lbs.

I also have the Simjet 700 in my Savex L39 putting out almost 8 lbs.

All of my engines have been great!

If your looking for a second brand of engine to consider, I would look at the Simjet line. They now have a full service facility in the USA.

Gary and Dr. J,

Thanks for even more input on engine choices! I have to buy one more turbine since I sent my broken one back to jetcat to get fixed. I know I said I wanted it back for remains, but Bob Wilcox told me that he could use two parts on the P-120. It seems that it would be about 1000 cheaper to just have it fixed!

Here's a pic of my f-15!

Alright guys,

I just sent all my paperwork in to the AMA for my turbine waiver!! Woo Hoo!! Now I gotta wait to get it!!!

Costs:

3 months of various airplanes to appease the turbine gods....

Over $7000.00!! Wow, that was an expensive piece of paper!!

I'll post a pic of the waiver when I get it, then the begining journey into the foray of jets will end
