All:
Many of you already know, but I'm sure a lot of you do not. Monday evening, April 24, 2006, in the course of an update the entire RCU forum database was corrupted. The restoration has lost a lot of posts made on Monday.
The effect? If you try to use an emailed link to go to a post you probably will find it does not work. The post the link points to is one that was lost. Just go to the forums list and work your way back in. As more posts are made things will return to normal.
We should all be thankful that this type of thing hasn't happened before.
Thanks Marc, for getting the system back up.
Bill.

Actually there is a bit of an eery story about the crash. For those of you in the mod ranks and who have been on the site for some time know that Art Grabow "GrnBrt" recently passed away. This crash occured last night at 8:16PM EST. Keep in mind this sort of thing is VERY rare to happen out of the blue like this.
Right before the crash I saw I had a private message so I clicked in to PM's. I saw it was from Nathan (aka Plane Insane - senior community moderator here) and the PM title was just "Art". I clicked it to read the message and the site froze solid. That was 8:16PM EST. Further investigation revealed a very, very nasty crash of the DB which required rolling back to the mornings backup image. When I emailed nathan last night he said he had literally just completed setting up lightfoot to fill Art's shoes right before he sent me that "Art" PM. I never got to read that "Art" PM as that was the moment the system blew up. I couldn't help but wonder if Art was just letting me know he was still hanging around here....

Seems that Sir Harry Crashton was at it again...luckily Ian Spinner and Bernard Outlaw weren´t with him this time...
They ´re better know as Spin, Crash and Bern, the inseparable trio...
Thanks for fixing it up quickly.

Nobody, but nobody can fill Art's shoes and he let you know it.

......... and he let you know it.
The Special Force is with him.......always

Those Green Berets sure gummed up the works for the V.C. more than a few times, maybe he's just keeping in touch. We miss you Grn Brt. We ought to mark the date and time, see if it happens again next year[X(]
