You mean this?:

Kirby Chambliss is well known for his fullsize aerobatics that are more or less what we would consider to be 3D. Granted, he can't punch out vertically from a hover, but he cando everything in between.

Kirby's one of several that does full scale 3d. (And does it exceptionally well, imo)
The most notable, imo at least, is probably Jim LeRoy in his Bulldog. Hovers, torque rolls, harriers, the works. (http://www.bulldogairshows.com/)

in the UK a guy called Will Curtiss. flies a sukhoi su-26M2, does the lot, 14g walls, rolling harriers even, parachutes, hovers, torque rolls AND pulls out, yes, seen it with my own eyes! and to top if off he commentates his flight as he does it in the cockpit. amazing!

that pic is taken on his world record attempt of doing 12 gates, 1 meter off the deck, inverted, just awesome! 1m just takes the piss, and its not lying look at the hight compared to the guys holding the gates! id do anything to hold one of them just to hear the sound of a radial pass me about 10 feet away!

From: Center of the Flyover States,
Kirby told me at his forum at the 2005 Airadventure that he has his Red Bull single seater pointed just enough forward as to sustain a hover for a time. He still gains lift from his airfoil. He said that his thrust is not greater than the weight of his plane.
The folks at Jim Kimball Enterprises stated they are developing a Pitts Model 12 that should have a positive thrust/weight design. See jimkimballenterprises.com for the latest.
