Default Pictures of my new Qwick- Fly III

Hi. I just finished the Qwick- Fly III from the Primus short kit. I came out nice. The weight ready to fly is 5.1 LBS with an OS 50 for power.

Very nice work and one of my favorite aircraft!

I expect you saved about 6oz with the lighter 50 compared to a 61. Jeff has done a good job of selecting the wood for the kit to come out to 5.1 lb with the 50SX.

Fantastic job! It is a totally beautiful model, jeide! That engine sounds like a perfect match. BTW, I think the prototype has a .47. I picked it up at a meet and was amazed at how light it was.

Hi. It was a very nice kit. I got the short kit so I picked out my own wood for other than the lazer cut parts. I was going for under 5 LBS but I used an 1100 MA battery pack because I had a new one in stock. I will fly it this week and give a report. Jim

Hey Jim Eide

Nice looking Qwick-Fly!!

Wasn't the Qwick-Fly a little before your time? I remember Bob Green was flying his Qwick-Fly (red dope and silk finish) when I started flying RC!!!

Hey Don, not before my time!

Rob,

How true, how true.

Didn't you help test the Guff? Or maybe the early reed systems?

Jim, family is fine. Chris (son) works for Lockheed down in Palmdale, CA (Edwards AFB) and has just recently started flying pattern again tho he went electric rather than glo.

Maybe if you and Rob get together and use a buddy box, jointly, you might make it thru the sequence I bet that OS 50 is far more powerful than the Veco/KB 60 Bob Green had in his old red Qwick Fly.

Hey Don, reeds? I had a couple of years of single channel under my belt before reeds came out!
Remember, I'm old!

My Qwick Fly also has an OS .50 like Jimmy but I went light weight and have HS-56's on the ailerons. Copied the paint scheme from a Qwick Fly 2 I had in about '65. Will test fly Sat. and post some pictures and a report on how she flies.

OK, Jim and Rob, how did the test flights go? Any inverted tail touches? Do they have the Qwick Fly dance?

So Rob, did you use the Bonner or Controlaire reed sets?

Hi Don. Rob and I flew them Saturday afternoon. I flew mine once and thats all I could handle as I had a golf tournement and walked 18 holes and then had to go another 4 holes in a playoff. I was wooped and Rob keep me on the ground so no damage was done. I did get 3 flights this evening and really had a lot of fun. Were going to practice for the vintage contest next weekend and it should be fun. I fly Futaba now but still Mode 1, bring your transmitter and come out and fly my airplane.Jim
