Default Cox 049 seized? Or is it? What to do?

HI ALL!
I have an old COX 049 engine. I can't pull that little cord. Is it seized? If so...can I popur good old MArvel Mystery oil in it? OR...just how does one get this thing open???
Many thanks, Ted

Model airplane fuel would be best but Marvel Mystery will not hurt it.

It's just gummed up with oil.

If you are having trouble with it being gummed up, you may have to disassemble it and clean the needle assembly and the reed before running it.

The race car engines had a pull stater on them. So did a few others.

I had the Cox engine with pull starter. Do not dismantle the pull starter! Soak the engine overnight in fuel, this will soften the hardened castor oil inside it.

Hi all for the responces!
Just HOW do I soak it??? I know it sounds STUPID! Right now the engine is in a Testors Sprite 500 car. I don't want to take it apart unless I (ya, STUPID, me) can figure out how to CORRECTLY soak it!
MANY THANKS, Ted

It is not stupid..
Take the engine of the model car and soak the whole engine without glowplug in fuel overnight (not in fuel can, use own container since fuel can not use again after the engine are soaked in this fuel).
