Well they're not really "WHEEL" mods, more like mods to attach wheels to hubs...
You may or may not remember reading in one of my posts that the new HPI wheels I got require an included washer to make the hole a smaller diameter and the washer made it so the nylon part of the wheel nut barely touched the threads and I needed to LocTite them. The pain in the arse was that whenever I wanted to switch back to the stockers for street driving, I would have to re-LocTite the off road wheels when I put them back on and wait for it to cure. Not anymore!!!
Check this out... I went to Home Depot and picked up a few goodies - #8-32 wingnuts, #8 lock washers and #8 flat washers. I put the HPI wheels on (already has the included washer - see below), then a #8 lock washer then a #8-32 wing nut. Voila! Now whenever I want to switch wheels, it's a simple turn of a wing nut. All the parts cost less than $5. Try that at your LHS!
Oh yeah, I got the regular #8 flat washers for the stock wheels, seeing they're plastic and need some metal for the lock washer to press against - see below. I centered them and glued them with leftover CA glue from when I mounted the new tires. CA glue is the same as super glue, if you didn't know. Smells the same, irritates the eyes the same and bonds fingers the same... lol [:-]
PS - The last pic is a warning label on my Futaba 2PH box. Makes you feel all warm and cozy doesn't it?[&:]
