That i know of saito only makes 4 stroke engines (could be wrong wouldnt be the first time). I would suggest a .30 or about that size engine its not bad having na little extra power is nice. to little power is not alway fun that being said i recomaned somthing like this engine-

I dont own one of these engine but from everything i have read and herd from it is an excelent engineOS has a strog reputation for rialbilty and eass of tunning

Thanks,

Will It be able to take off or not with a .40? Cause I need a powerful engine because the wind is quite strong were I live.

If you add enough tail weight. If you have enough ground clearance for the bigger prop needed for the larger engine. Then it will then fly like the model would with a .25 but with a heavier wing loading. Cubs are bad enough to take-off and land without flipping even when they're not nose heavy.

A Cub is not a design that lends itself to "ballistic performance" when overpowered. If it has a flat bottom airfoil you'll climb well but have to throttle way back for level flight, anyway.

A plane this size would typically do great with a .30 four stroke. However, the more important question is what is your flying experience? I've flown a Cub this size and can tell you for sure that they are TERRIBLE beginner planes.

For a .25 size 2-stroke, take a good look at the OS .25FX. It's one of the most reliable .25s out there.

I have a lot of hours running the Magnum .15, .25, and .28. They are good engines, but the carbs are really finiky, and the .28 vibrates a lot. If you really want a Magnum, take a look at my "magnum engine tips" at www.midatlanticcombat.com. The Magnum carbs have problems leaking air due to problems with the O-ring seals. Magnum is in the process of phasing in some new engine designs with new carbs that might be better, but I don't think it's reached the .28 or .25 yet. (the new .15 is due in Jan I think).

The OS LA .15 will give you "scale power", which will feel rather under-powered for a model. It's a fine engine over all, but not a great choice for that plane. Ditto the Mag .15 btw.

I agree with the above posters that a .30 4-banger would be perfect for t hat cub. A .25 2-stroke with a pitts muffler and a big prop wouldn't be bad either. I've found that a larger prop and the slimline pitts muffler changes the sound quite a bit from the "normal" 2-stroke whine.

If you fly in hight wind with the Cub no ammount of power will make it a fun experiance. Like previously pointed out, Cubs are not easy like most beginners think. I have an 80 incher that I dorked trying to do a forced take-off, it stalled a wing. The plane is clearly over powered but that did me no good.....

I'll also vote for the OS .25FX. I have to admit though, I'm a diehard OS fan. I've thought of trying other engines to save money but when I research them, all I hear is a mixed bag. With OS, you almost never....almost.... hear complaints. Be prepared to pay more money. I believe the OS.25FX sells for around $85.00 or so. With this engine, you'll be at the upper end of the model's stated range. I'm stepping out here but I'd think the .25FX is pretty close to the OS 40LA in terms of power. With 4 strokes, I've heard, but haven't experienced, that the OS puts out more power than a Saito.....this was from a clerk in a store. Its just that the Saitos look so darn good! Perhaps a 40 size 4 stroke?
