HELLO GUYS. I WILL START THIS THREAD TO SHARE MY EXPERIENCE IN BUILDING MY FIRST TURBINE JET TRAINER. THE MODEL CHOSEN IS JETMACH 60 , AN ALL WOOD TRAINER JET BY BOB LESERVE - WWW.LASER-DESIGN-SERVICES.COM. THIS IS AN ALL WOOD KIT THAT SEEMS TO BE VERY EASY TO BUILD AND FLY. FIRST I WOULD LIKE TO SAY THAT BOB LESERVE IS A GREAT GUY AND HELPED ME IN EVERY ASPECT OF THE PURCHASE AND GIVE ALL THE NECESSARY FEEDBACK. THIS IS AN WOOD AIRPLANE WITH 80 IN WINGSPAN AND 75 IN LENGHT. IT HAS AN ALUMINUM WING JOINER TUBE AND MAIN LANDING GEAR. A HEAT SHIELD, ALL STOCK WOOD AND A WOOD LASER PACK. THE WOOD SELECTION IS VERY GOOD AND THE LASER CUT PACKAGE IS GREAT. I WILL POST PICTURES OF THE BUILDING AND WOULD LIKE TO RECEIVE FEEDBACK WITH SUGGESTIONS AND WITH OTHER PEOPLE THAT PURCHASED AND BUILT THE JETMACH. I WILL BE IN CONTACT GUYS.

WE STARTED THE CONSTRUCTION BY THE WINGS. THEY ARE BUILT OVER THE PLANS. IT IS A SIMPLE CONSTRUCTION , BUT MUST BE VERY PRECISE AND WELL GLUED. THE INSTRUCTION MANUAL IS COMPLETE AND EASY TO FOLLOW.

Here are the wing assembly photos. The wing is built over the plan on a flat surface, as right and left pieces and then are joined together with an aluminun wing tube. You can see the laminated ribs, the wing tube support doublers. Make sure that the main wing spars is straight and aligned on the plans. Position the ribs on the plan with tabs down. The ribs must be aligned . You have a dihedral gage. You must abrase the wing tube before you glue it. We are starting the leading edge sheeting. I think that by end of the week i will have the wing almost ready. The construction is straight and you just have to follow the manual. Any coments would be great. I will post more photos as the construction goes on. Regards

Hello Shok. I will use a Modellbau T500, that i purchased from a guy here in Brazil. It seems to run ok. Any information would be great, because it is my first turbine jet . Regards

Nice to see the pics of your jet project here, Cel ... keep the pics coming and good luck with it!
120- 140 mph is plenty fast for this kind of plane... and you can always chop the wings later if you feel the need for more!

We're building two in Brisbane Australia. One as per the book and the 2nd one with a foam wing and a few minor mods for looks, like a "proper" curved canopy etc
Some points I've found:
Read through the book, then read it again. Check out the images on the enclosed CD.
Cut or score the laser break points on both sides of the push outs for minimal clean up
There are a quite a few parts that benefit from dry fitting first.
Particularly the fuse sides. In order to get perfect alignment file the finger joints for a slide together fit first. (A flat file will give you a flater surface and gets into the corners better. Sandpaper tends to round the edges.) This gives a little room for alignment with both sides and allows the ply to lay flat when gluing. Mine was too tight and warped the assembly, so that's what I did.
Like Bob sugests, I love white glue for ply.
I'm not going to "film" mine, strictly a glass and paint man. With a steel shed and 40 degrees C, that plastic stuff is just tooo much trouble.

Brian, many thanks for the constructive input, I'll look at loosening the fit of the tongues. Would a loose fit be OK, I was concerned about keeping the fuselage sides straight with out having to use a straight edge to align it.
The fit of the wingtube is designed to be tight, this is now proving to be a good thing as the two piece wing is about to be flight tested. It passed the static load test with no problem.
