Starting this thread, mainly because I *want* to be the "first kid on the block" with one. Scott sez "coming soon", and is working on hubs as I type this.
This motor, considering it's a true "50" is gonna be one light mo fo....I'm guessing that it will come in lighter than the BME, but has a jug that could be the same engine..... hmmmmmm.
Picture it - BME power (or better), less vibration, lower cost, and supplied by Scott!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is GONNA BE GOOD.
Stay tuned, everybody!!!!!!!!

Have to wait for the real numbers from Scott; I don't have them, but his stuff includes lots of stuff that other manf. DO charge extra for, and that can add up. Have to see, but I think it will be a lot more cost-competitive.

Just got the pricing............ DRUM ROLL..............
$495 - with his "stock" side dump muffler included, mounts, and ignition.
Boys, that is gonna ROCK.
He will have a lighter weight muffler available later. Early production units will ship with his own custom muffler, which is a little heavier.
Using his "heavier" stock weights...... 6.2 ounces less than the BME, similarly equipped. Six-point-two.
Email Scott with questions and availability information ----- [email protected]
This is gonna be good.

Dunno. Good "Scott" question.
I REALLY like the round head, too. He's doing that on the 46's and they look gorgeous. The engraved name is a nice "class" touch.

If I was a betting man, I'd say "BME" numbers..... but I'll just have to wait for MINE to arrive to do those measurements. Can't WAIT. And I will provide whatever info I learn here.

The 50 is an Echo 50cc engine. I get new shortblocks to build them. I will have some numbers for it this weekend. I just need to build a muffler yet. It should have some snap. You can't beat Echo for quality.

You got that right AL. The 50's have been sitting here starring at me for days. I just did not have the time to finish one. Tonight I finished one up quick for a little change of pace. The 46's are taking most of my time right now. I will run the 50 while running some of the 46's.

Scott did you ever get my email about the Toro 25 cylinder? I need a single barrel cylinder if you have one in the pile. Also gave your name to a guy who PM'd me looking for mufflers. Do you still make them available for sale as well? By the way what is the cross drilled hole for on the shaft of the hub?

Tim,
I did get your email. I just need to dig through some boxes and look for a cyl. I should have one here. I have a whole box of Toro parts somwere
I do make mufflers somtimes when I get the time. Now engines are keeping me so busey I have not had time to make mufflers. I like making them, but they take so much time.

It is for the CS 520. Twin ring, domed piston. I wanted to use an engine that will be available for a long time. I did not want to run into problems with getting them like some of the other engines I have done and had to drop. I talked to a rep from Echo and this engine will be around for some time to come.

This is very exciting Scott! What about bearings? Can it be ordered with a shorter prop hub? Very impressive, I'd also like to see how it might respond to a pipe.

I have just the one length hub right now. It can not be much shorter than it is because then there would not be enough threads for the prop bolt. As it sits right now the shortest it could be is 5 inches. On most 50cc size planes, the length will not be a problem. Most seem to need closer to 6" or more.
I am trying to find some info on the Echo on a pipe. Nothing yet, but I will modify a header if need be and try it.

Thanks for the reply Scott,
I am just concerned about giving the front end the nicest life possible with a short hub and only balanced props and spinner. Seems some of them don't fare well, yours is looking good.
The pipe might turn up some results. This cylinder is made for the long run? Chrome or nickle? The piston sounds interesting as well. Could the ports be polished? Very exciting engine, I like your work.

Hey Scott. I talked to you a few weeks ago on the phone about your 46, but this 50 seems like it might be worth the wait for my application. Any idea on when you will be ready to take orders? I am in no rush, just curious.

The 50 will be on our site this weekend.
Goekeli- The 50 runs a 6202 bearing like a G62. I have never heard of a G62 bearing going bad. The force they are meant to take is much higher than they will ever get on an airplane. I agree, a ballanced prop will make everything last longer.
