Flite Metal, Aerofoil or Metalcoat? Which is better?
I am considering these coverings and was curious if someone had experience with both or either. I've looked a the Flite Metal threads and it looks pretty good, but Metalcoat looks good too.

I think what Mick has is similar to FM and Aerofoil.
I have used AF, and FM. the AF is slightly thinner then
the FM. both work great.
havent used the stuff Mick sells, so cant really comment on it

The Flite-Metal web site is http://www.flitemetal.com
It is completely seperate from the ScaleAero.com site.
The single attribute of FLite-Metal which differentiates
it from other foil is its elongation which is up to 25% of
area.
This contributes to considerably less wrinkling in either
.002 12" or .0015 thickness of Flite-Metal in either 6"
by 25' or 50' rolls.

RE: Flite Metal, Aerofoil or Metalcoat? Which is better?
I went to a scale seminar a few WRAM shows ago and ruined myself forever in what I used to think was a highly desirable aluminum finish. Essentially, alumimum finishes are not supposed to look perfectly uniform and be perfectly matched. I've seen a number of RC aircraft since then with these finishes on them and have come to the same conclusion. There are some skillful and creatitive ways of simulating the effect though, not to rain on your parade, but it's something you may want to keep in mind.

I am just about the try a product called Alclad 2. I've used it before on plastic scale models and it looks like real aluminium and it's simple to spray on.
here's a link: http://www.alclad2.com/alclad-home.html
I've just started a glass fuse 1:9 P-51, with a Saito 56. I should have it ready for paint before the months over; I will let you know how Alclad goes on RC planes. It should be just as good as it is on plastic models.
