Guys,
I wanted a large scale F-16 so ordered a 1/6 scale Skymaster. Always like to go for my 'own' scheme so supplied all the pics/info for the scheme below and paid for it! Skymaster tell me it is now ready to ship. Looked at the website and now they offer "my" custom scheme as a standard scheme [:@]
Why offer "CUSTOM" schemes if you're then just gonna put it into production
Annoys me.
Rgds,
Mark

Did they tell you they were going to copy it?

I have to agree with Alan, not to defend Skymaster, but for the price you are actually paying for a painted jet and not for the exclusive. But you will have the first of the series though...
You may want to ask how much as US painter would charge you for a paint job like that...

At the VERY LEAST they should have asked his permission. He'd have probably been flattered and given his blessing.
It's just rude, dude.

Forgive me Mark! [sm=cry_smile.gif]You paid for this custom scheme to SM to be the first one to have it from them. But I'm sorry to tell you that this scheme was first used by this guy, in an aviation design kit. You can look this pics in AD site.[sm=drowning.gif]

Well actually I first saw a model in this colour scheme way back in 2001 in Thailand. My dutch friend, Marijn Pennix, test flew his huge F16 in this colour scheme. The model is available commercially

Your rigth Geoff, I think that guy flew his in one of the prior Top Guns event or FJ. Don't remeber now. Also in JWM this year acording to you link.
So we have to stop blaming those guys who are selling kit to us. At the end they are giving very nice prices. The only guy I know can give exclusive is Tailor Made Decals. You sent him the special schemes and will save it for you. But at the end you have to do the paint job. I know this becasue I working a custom scheme for one of my projects. I saw the real one here in RCU but not the model yet. So if I want that scheme I will need to hurry befor some one else order it first.

Guys, I am not saying this is the first time the scheme has been used!! I know that - I have seen the full size and Marijn's F16 several years ago and can assume that others have painted it themselves! I was just a bit miffed last night to realise that the scheme I "thought" would be fairly rare on a 1/6 Skymaster F16 was actually now available to anyone. The reason I didn't go for the standard TigerMeet scheme was because I wanted something a little 'different'. The fact that I still don't have mine yet and it is available to order just riled me that little bit more!!
Anyway, I'm over it - was obviously in a bad mood last night

Did you expect any less from the masters of copying?
All kidding aside this seems to be a fairly standard practice.
I asked a graphics supplier about making a set of graphics for the Tamjets A4 and was told that since it would be
a popular model that he can do my set cheaper than the normal custom pricing since he would be able to sell
it in some quanity. If they Skymaster had agreed to do a one off they would have charged you a substanially higher price
most likely, then if they offered it to the public I would want to shoot someone too!
Okay to be honest I would be pissed off too! [:@]

Truth is if you want a one off paint job learn to paint. I do not fly. Off road 1/8th scale only, but i learned to paint my own shells and guess what, I am the only one with those paint schemes.

I think you should get a free kit from skymaster.... maybe two...
since you were the one who :
Invested your Time.
Did the research.
Found the color scheme.
Bought and /or collected the pictures.
Its the color scheme that makes the "model"...you should not be..... NOT rewarded for your "modeling" work!!!
