Default Lonestar Models in Lancaster-3 Alarm fire

They closed at 2pm for the holidays. Fire called in at 3pm, they are still fighting the fire as of 7pm. No injuries. Per KRLD 1080 news
I am assuming that the situation is not good.

Man, thats really bad... I haven't been there in a while, but it is balsa heaven - shelves and shelves of nothing but balsa, and sawdust... A fire in that place would spread pretty quick without a heavy duty sprinkler system. I hope its not as bad as it sounds... []

Man, I've been waiting 9 days for my order, called yesterday and they said it would go out on Monday. There's 200 up in smoke. I hate to see this happen, it has been incredibly convenient to order from them over the past. I trust there was no one there or injuries.

So where else do you order from Bob?

me too, in spades. I depend on them all time and was there just last week to pick up an order, as they were running behind.
I feel real bad for Lou and the others, as surely they will be out of business for a while, and employment in that area is scarce.

Because I haven't scratch built in a while, it's been years since I ordered from them. But I always knew where to get balsa if I needed it. I hope they come out of it all right.

Funny thing, I too had an order in for 10 days and I called them and was told it would probably ship on Tuesday. Seems strange the order was delayed without any notification to me. In fact 2 emails didn't get answered and it took a phone call on Tuesday. The girl had to call me back 2 hours later to let me know where my order was. Something is amiss from the last order that was shipped the next day it was received.

yeh, Their Email had gone down and I guess their computer too, so they could not process orders. I had been going over there personally to get my orders sorted and get my wood.

As far as the news reports go, nobody got hurt.
As to orders, I bet there are a bunch of people out some money.

Bob,
Why would you say such a thing? What do you know that you're not telling us?

OR

Is this just the same old BS type post meant to inflame?

I started flying (control line) when I was 8 years old. I'm 62 now and I've known the name Riley Wooten since day one.
I hate to hear that anyone who'e been involved in modeling for so long has had such a catastrophe.
I hope all turns out OK for him, and for those who were waiting on an order.

Sean,
No I don't. "PayPal" in a word. I'll get a refund as I can't wait for the ordered wood any longer. Riley has been around for a long time, he'll do what is right.

BTW.... Did you ever get that driver loaded correctly?

Driver loaded yes. Unit working the way I want, no. Had to shelve it to a later date to make other commitments. The problem I was having was setting it up right to make a wing that has massive sweep, 22 1/8 root. And the spring was an issue. Can you send me the plans you were using for yours? I'd make a new unit in a heartbeat.

I've been a walkin customer ever since they moved to this area and have bought a lot of balsa from them. I sure hope Riley rebuilds but it wouldn't surprise me if he doesn't. Everyone lost out in this fire. I'm so glad that no one was injured.

In the mean time, where else would you guys think would be a good place to order balsa?

There is another balsa place in Calif. that sells the same stuff as LSB but I can't remember the name, thought it was Balsa USA, I know, two different companys but it's been A while sense I ordered from them. I lived in Ca. and I ordered from LSB because the prices were A bit better and I didn't have to pay the tax, shipping was the same either way. I think they advertise in MAN?? It's worth the search.
As for the Lone Star fire, I feel so bad for all the folks involved and hope they reopen again soon. These were the finest folks I have ever had the pleasure to deal with and the phone orders were always fun for me.
The one time I really messed up my order I phoned them back and let them know I made A big mistake, seems I was the first customer that had ever admitted to it. The lady got me all fixed up again and let me order less then required and sent it out to me without charging the postage again. Outstanding customer service and fun folks.
I hope all goes well for them again soon.

I've had really good luck with Lonestar, a few messed up items but they've always made them right. As for the delays, the last few orders I've sent in have taken more than twice as long as earlier orders. I called on one, and they said they were really backlogged. My last order is in transit, so I count myself as a lucky one. They do have pictures of the fire on their website.
