kochj: nice Skyraider.... imagine the size of the box if that was an ARF!!!!
Then later you could win one on an e-bay auction for $200 and $2000 shipping......

Adam,

I wish I could say it was mine but it isn't!..
I found it on a rcu forum...[]

You have put out some very nice planes....You should be proud of your hard work!...

Thanks for your compliment. We really try our very best to put out nice ARF's. Its especially gratifying when the compliments comes from such a fine modeler.

Can i use wood props on the rcv120sp, cant find anything locally and i want to get it started on the breakin. what about the singer 4 blade props, will thoise work ok for this project? Still havent recieved the retracts yet so as soon as i get them i will post some pics. I was thinking of the zinger 17x12 4 blade or the 16x14 4 blade probably both to see which one works better.

Hobby Barn in Tucson has many APC 4 blades in stock, not too expensive either. Google them.

anybody get there retracts yet?? anyone else building one of these?? got to break in the motor some today. seems to run well, starts nice. using a 18x14 prop for breakin, turns it no problem, had it up to 5100 rpm.

it was just attached but power was removed, I have it switched on my field box, I was getting about 5100-5300 with an 18x14 2 blade apc prop. I an a bit dissapointed in that the 16x14 4 blade zinger prop I just got is too much load, cant get more than 4300 rpm out of it. guess i might have to go with the apc 15.5x12 4 blade prop. Got about a little more than 1/2 gallon through it so far, i can get idle down to about 1400 rpm so far. seems good so far.

I guess i am the only one who bought one on rcu. Retracts came in today. I think they look pretty good. alot bigger and very stout looking, rotates good, tested with compressor a few times and moved smoothly too. Struts are ok, standard strait struts, Wheels look very nice, tail wheel looks good too. Here are a couple of shots.

Thank you for the pictures, looks very sturdy.

Can you give us some measurements and weight?
I might get some for another project

as far as the solo prop, I think they are sweet, but i believe the hub is too big for a plane this size.

Just wanted to show you a SOLO prop on a KMP spitfire.... and A RCV 1.20,,,, The same engine you have.....

I think you would love this one your skyraider.... No issues with the hub size for this one.....
Carl at solo props makes everything size related!!! It will look good, trust me on that one!......
And you can fine tune the pitch of the blades, so you can get the best performance out of them!......
Closest thing to having a real pitch adjusting prop....well sort of...

If you want the exact outline of the props on the real skyraiders, send him a pict, and he will make an exact copy for your plane!....

I ordered direct from zinger, google zinger propellers and you will get the site, just call and order. make sure to get the hub for each size, i got a 16x14 complete prop and ordered 17x12 blades and they wouldnt fit in the hub. waste of money. unless i buy the hub. what size is the solo hub, outside diameter and depth. thanks it looks good on the spit, what size spinner is that.

It isn't my setup... I got the picts form a guy on the radail forum.....

Give Carl a call at solo props...He can get all the information you would need...

I think you would be very happy with one of those...

You have spent quite a bit already.... A few-dollars more and you have one bueit of a plane, engine, prop....
With that plane you have , it shows off the hub, and doesn't enclose it in a spinner.... I can't wait to get my 3-blade on my GP hawk!....

Love it but I don't think I could handle an extra $350 for that spinney thingy on the front of the plane.

Solo props are just amazing. My buddy is breaking in a new twin for his Platt Fw 190 and he has a Solo Prop on it. Three nice paddle blades, looks wonderful, and he got scale display blades for it too. Carl knows what he is doing.

People that drop 300-600 for a set of retracts should be spending the 300 on a solo prop. Its worth every penny. The ability to set your pitch is just a benefit to the incredible looking hub and blades. As good as the Fw 190 hub and blades look the ones Carl did for my buddy's He 123 is even more impressive.

well here are a couple of pics, started on the wing tonight, cut open covering over retracts and wheel wells, draw in panel lines with charcoal pencil and smear to look like weathering. I think it came out pretty nice myself, what you guys think. I clear over panel lines with satin clear urethane, used on my sea fury and it worked out good.

it would work but you have to clear over it after aplication, I use clear satin furniture urathane clear in the spray can, works great. today i did some more break in of the 120sp engine, I have about 1.5 gallons thru it and its still a little tight, hopefully it will loosen up some more. runs good sofar

heres some more pics, today I cut out the servo bays on the one panel that is cleared over, drew lines and cleared other panel today but its drying. glued the retract farings on and cut out door. It comes with the door so I may use them, not sure yet how to make them open and close, will figure that out later. glued the blocks on the servo covers, and weathered servo covers to mach bottom of wing. thats it for today, next i will install servos, and retract in this panel, probably in the next couple of days. I am using hitec 645mg servos for all flying surfaces.
