Default Cryodrive shaft length flight testing

I started a new thread because I'm not too impressed with how my original thread turned out, it leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

Anyhoo, I went with setup 15mm longer then stock, I'm using Microheli Al swash and Microheli Al lower hub, E-flite Al upper hub and cf flybar with Xtreme Al center.

With such a large gap between the rotors, the heli is less stable, as it should be. I added another collar to each side of the flybar (4 per side) so now the flybar is only .75g lighter than stock. That helped.

As for fast forward flight, it is improved, I'll have to test it better when its not dark out (flying using the street lights is a bit tricky).

Tomorrow I'll put the servo arms on the 3rd notch (they were on the 1st one for the earlier flights) as I felt I could use more pitch (controlling thrust) to help counteract winds.

But my gut feeling is that I don't need such a large gap between rotors for my specific setup. I'll try moving the servo arms way out just to see what kinda pitch I can get, but I'm thinking there's only so much this heli can do, its not a high performance heli after all. If with the servo arms at the last hole and I still get no clack, then I'll reduce the gap to 10mm and see how that works, the heli will be more stable with the 10mm gap, as others have said.

One this I have noticed is that the heli really gets blown around in the wind. Its got nothing to do with the amount of pitch (controlling thrust) it can produce, its just very light; the added thrust will allow you to recovery from the wind, but you'll still get pushed around regardless.

One thing I like is how I can cut the throttle from 6' in the air and the heli drops without damage - no way I could do that with my TREX... the CX2 is so light, as long as you cut throttle, it bounces more then it breaks.

Glad its all working out for you. I knew there is a reason why everyone is using a 5+5mm rise. Thanks for testing out the differences in shaft lengths. I'm truly sorry about your last tread.

hay guys just to let you know it is true a bigger gap tends to need a smaller and lighter bar "sweet spot"

just passing on some info on the mass research we have done

hay guys you seem to know what's going on with what we all know ... when you get good with um you need better stuff ....

we made a lot of drives all different sizes and using all kinds of materials as we went on and on and on it boiled down to this size with our bar it just worked best over all ....

and to that we will send out 1 hole drive unit with bar FREE!!! but you must understand that we can not afford to send out a bunch of them ... so please pm , e-mail , phone .. ect. amongst your self's to decide who would be best to make a non bias honest review ..

some one with good flying skills and preferably with a heli using x-treme motors and blades and is using micro heli lower and swash with a e-sky upper also using the max servo throw if using a dx-7 tx even better

once you all decide who would be best, please post it here and then e-mail us your shipping to [email protected]
thank you...

ps. please note do not pick "eat2muchrice" as it would be a conflict of interest due to his claims here on the board .. sorry rice no offence ....

You aren't a paid actor for this CRYODRIVE or anything are you?

I'd like to see some video and pictures of this setup.

ORIGINAL: MAGICHOBBY

no not paid .. or an actor lol .... the deal is i have a small shop out here in the sfv I build custom r/c rock rigs pre customer design ... well one day these guys come in asking if i was interested in doing custom heli builds .... well that did not pan out as i just don't have the time ... but as i do fly helis for fun, I was very interested in some of what their design offered. I have been flying with some of their parts, and am going to the park with a video camera today. I will post the videos as soon as possible. ....... They also want others to beta test. I agreed to help them out by doing extensive beta testing, as their drive system promised to finally fix once and for all, the infamous blade slap, which was an all to common problem.

I simply like to fly, not to spend my time rebuilding my helicopter because of inferiour parts, this is not an option. The extensive beta testing I am doing for them, is just that. beta testing ...I am not selling their parts. I am only handling the beta testing for them and I get to keep all of their nifty parts.

just passing along some good info ...

They seem like nice enough guys but are obviously both very new to internet forums and the protocol surrounding them.

You and magichobby have both entered several threads with the purpose of advertising your product and company. I am not going to go threw and quote more posts but just the ones above vioulate the rules that I have posted. Enetering a thread just to say there is a new player on the block and it's your company? . I mean no offense but If you don't understand that and you both keep up the blatant self adverts then you will find out the hard way I am sure.

And after we pulled the mask off and realized the ghost was actually the caretaker, we all laughed.....

BTW, cheers for all your good work in the custom CF CX parts arena. I am going to try and track some CF down at my LHS this weekend and give your plans for the inner/outer shafts a go.
