Default How many servos MUST be plugged into RX

Bill/Krysta,

I have a new 14ch 2.4ghz RX that I will be running with a new PowerBox Royal. Please can you tell me how many servos need to remain plugged into the RX for it to operate correctly. My understanding is that there must be at least 1 or 2 directly into the RX (the others are plugged into the Powerbox) so as to remain within some pre-determined calibration. Is this correct? Does is still apply to this new RX on 2.4??

Thanks,
Mark

1 or 2 servos is correct. You want some electrical load on the output chips.

Bax,

Perhaps you can clarify this, or maybe I'm missing something altogether. I too am using a TM-14 module with a R6014FS receiver on my 12Z. I'm planning on using the receiver in conjunction with a Power Expander from Smart-Fly (which operates in a similar manner to the PowerBox). I would think that plugging in the input leads from the Power Expander to the Rx would provide the necessary load to the Rx. Or does the Power Expander "isolate" the normal load imposed by the servo, thus creating an artificial "no-load" situation?

Thanks,

Can you tell me why the chip in the receiver needs some load? I have been designing digital circuits for 32 years and this makes no sense to me. The chip in the receiver should work the same with or without a load. Also, you say 1 or 2 servos, what actual load in mA do you need? Thank you.

I received this from PowerBox MD.....

On the new 2,4 Ghz receivers you don´t need a servos direct on the
receivers, this was only necessary by the 72 and 35 Mhz.

The confusion continues!

Hi,
In all honesty, I don't know of any reason that a servo needs to be plugged into a 72MHz or 35MHz system either. We have had no problems with no servos connected directly to the receiver on our PowerExpanders. Electronically this just does not make sense. PowerBox's explanation makes no sense to me.
