New 14MZ/12Z/12FG update
#1
i wouldn't do the update until it hits the US site, but here is a topic for those interested,
http://www.runryder.com/helicopter/t436659p1/
you can go here and select the radio you have, enter your serial number, and it will open the page with the updates and PDF files. (in Japanese, but you can view the screen shots)
http://www.rc.futaba.co.jp/hobby/11_....cfm?page_id=1
here is the 12Z PDF,
http://www.rc.futaba.co.jp/hobby/11_..._1.3.0_JPN.pdf
there's quite a few added features such as independant volume controls, small case characters, new wing types, etc,.
here is a translator for anyone wanting to read the text,

Wow ! Lots of good stuff . I'm tempted to try it but a little hesitant without knowing exactly what I'm getting myself into ! I guess I could always switch back to the present version .

Marc,
have done any of the updates in the past?
i just got my 12Z and it has the last version which sets the radio up for 2.4, so i'm hesitant of doing any updates at this time, plus from my experience with DSLR's, i always found it best to let all the Beta testers try things out first.

The update went fine . I'll have to do more investigating , and/or translate the Japanese or wait for the English translation , to learn about all the changes . The ones I've noticed so far and really like are as follows :
1- Ability to extend the 90s range check by hitting a RESET button before the 90s is up .
2- I can finally sort my model names !
3- Functions can be named to be more meaningful ( now which aux is my nose gear door....? )
4- Changing modulation and RX type less cumbersome than in the past.
So far so good . I recommend it to any 14MZ owners !

You can always revert back.

I too will wait. In the past there have been times when region specific information is included in the updates and this can cause you issues that may not be apparent at first.

My theory is that they just haven't translated the documentation yet . Why would they release it in Japan if it wasn't sound ? I'm using it and love the new features on my 14MZ . Not perfect yet but getting there !

Marc, you said the new software makes it easier to swap between a 72mhz module and a 2.4 module while the radio is operating? I know mine doesn't like it when I have the wrong module type plugged in for the model selected. The first time I plugged in my TM-14 was the only time I got an improper shut down when I turned the radio off.

Installed and checking out, looks good so far.
I like the model sorting. This is nice!
Range test restart is nice also, good for those long walks out.

Looking forward to the ability to turn off the illumination. the 14mz saps a lot of juice. A simple setting up of the aircraft using dsc results in 62% juice remaining!I fly my 12z more often because of that.

Hi all
As i am outside of the USA so cannot get to the user club site, but on Futaba web site it lists a June update 1.3.1 for the 14MZ but the pdf lists an earlier release 1.2.0 I think ie no exteded range check etc.
Can you confirm the release number of the new version
thanks Ian

1.3.1 is the new version . For some reason if you just click on update you get the documentation for 1.2
Open the update folder and there's a 1.3.1 PDF.

can software versions be reversed to the prior one?
in other words, should i do the current update on my 12Z and there be problems, can i reinstall the prior version?
reason i ask is that some poor fellow claims a bug in the new version for the 12Z,

Flying with the new update on both 72 and 2.4 and it is still rock solid for me.
Several flights so far, even maidened a Lanier Edge 33%, no worries.
Using in planes powered by electric and gas, rx,s 5014,6014,617,9PCM-syn.
EDIT: I have the 14MZ.
