Default Buggy to truggy

Hey, im looking to convert my hyper to a truggy, i was thinking of getting the ofna hex adapters to keep it 17mm rather than going with the pro-line ones. I was just wondering how big the hyper st wheels are compared to the normal hyper 7 wheels and if they would give the desired truggy look when added to the buggy. I am also awear of the issue that i have to re gear it - any input on this? thanks

dont waste your time or money. the ratios on truggys are soo different you wont get it right. The arms and chassis are different on the st too, its wider.

Well , hope you have a lot of clutch shoes and clutch bells . You will need to change the gearing on clutch bell , center diff gear , front and rear diffs . Trying to get the gearing correct from switching to a truggy is gonna be hard and expensive .

oh . Im a bit confused now lol. I was seriously thinking of converting it.. and ive seen a few other conversions that looked succesfull. But if the diffs are going to need gearing aswell than i dont exactly know what im getting into. I suppose this is going to take some deciding, i dont have loads of cash to pour into this, i was just thinking of re gearing the engine and putting some bigger wheels on, guess its another one of those things that arnt what they seem Thanks for the advice, i now know what the possibilities are.

before truggies even came out people would make their buggy into a truggy , but found many issues without gearing properly .

hmm, my original plan was just to mess around, stick some bigger wheels on it, new gearing ( I saw a different thread with a link to some gears) and see what happens. I might save up to upgrade to an actual truggy, but then there's re-tuning the engine and running it in ect, and that would take time.

Edit:. OK I have had it with my terrible spelling and installed a spell checker :P

no matter what you do you will always have to retune . The temp and humidity change the engines tune and will always need to be adjusted .

OK, If I were to get: Hyper ST wheels and OFNA wheel hub extenders (4) that would be the wheels sorted out. In another post I was reading someone gave a link to some lightning stadium truck diff gears.

If a bought 2 each of these could I be on a pretty basic set up for a working truggy that wont chew the differentials too much?
Now comes my main question..... engine gearing. Could anybody give me a good push in the right direction as to what gears I will need? Thanks
- Crowdie

Edit: After a little bit of more research I have found a full lightning differential, would I be better of just getting the whole diff or just getting two of the above gears? There is also a "Hot-Bodies Hard Steel Differential Gear Set" would this be any use?

I'm also thinking of getting the body post mounts from the hot bodies as well, seems rather good.

Some have but you seem to disagree . As for the parts you listed , nobody is going to know for sure unless they have done the exact same conversion you are trying to do .

yeah, I decided to go through with the conversion for a bit of fun, that's what the hobbies about isn't it? I will try with the wheels (purchasing them and saving up the parts gradually until I have everything needed). I just need a bit of help with the gearing for the engine.. if any body has a basic idea on something that wont strain the engine (hyper .21) and burn the clutch out.
