Default T-Maxx Throttle Brake Linkage

I recently tore my truck apart down to the chassis to clean it and the other day I went to drive my truck after finally finishing the rebuild and to me it looks like the throttle servo is pulling to far and making the little spindle that does to the carb ball ( I dont know what it is called ) is getting pulled to far and is getting stuck and will not go back to the idle position unless i push it with my finger, and then it will pop back into position. What do I need to do to the linkage to make it not pull so far? The only thing that I have gotten to work is messing with the brake linkage as well and the only way it wont pull to far is when there is full brake applied without touching the controller... What do I need to do to fix this? Please help! All help is wonderful!

Thanks

It sounds like your servo horn was not installed properly or the linkage from the servo to the swivel arm is too short. If it does not move the carb enough then look at extending the linkage from the swivel to the carb.

Cheers

adjust the linkage, move the set end pieces around til you get the right spot, you can also take the servo horn off and reinstall in a little off center, instead of it being straight when you put it on one end will face toward the front or rear more than the other

Throttle should be closed with a spring on the control line, not from strictly the servo itself. Looking down on the servo, the throttle is on one side of the arm and the brake is on the other...180 deg apart. I don't have mine together right now but here's a pic of the linkage...your's may be flopped around but with the spring setup on the motor linkage the throttle closes with the same force all the time. Most are setup like this but in case yours isn't I posted a pic.

Another thing to consider is the hex nut around the LS needle may have come loose not allowing the barrel to close.

Like the nut that holds on the carb?

You need to remove your air cleaner and look into the carb opening while moving the throttle on the controller. The servo should not open the throttle past the point where you see the carb fully open...that is where you either set your trim, or set the servo throw...whatever. Not sure if the stock transmitter allows for end point adjustment but if not, set your trim on the controller to the center, loosen the collar on the control rod and when the throttle is fully pressed, tighten the collar so that the carb is right at the point where it is fully open, that way you cannot open it further unless you play with the trim knob.

When you have this set, adjust your brake rod to just barely engage when the throttle is closed and when it is slightly giving pressure on the spring. That way the travel it has against the spring is soley for the brake.

Having a problem viewing the last post until about 20 minutes or more after. I can see where Superman made the last post in the columns but it only shows my last post [sm=confused.gif]
