Tam, I got a Bandit waiting for this set-up. Ever since we talked at LA Jets, I've been looking forward to it. Let me know when you got the bugs out and when it is available.

George and Bill,

This is 14s set at 4.6kw with Kontronik Power Jazz.
Since the speed control doesn't had mass of airflow for cooling. It had little bug shut for second. That interupt the flight.
The AUW is 16.3 lbs with this set up 14s 4900mAh.
Tonight I'll install the 12s system and give it another test flight.
The 12s had the Casttle HV110 and mounted behide the motor had high efflux air flow for cooling.
Even it had only 4kw set up at 12s under amps. But the weight should drop back to 15.5 lbs. That should had good performance without ESC cutting off.
To built the Bandit this light. There is a lot thing you need to skip from the stock kit.
I had my own gear in this Bandit with light wheels/brake. Yesterday flight was amazing. Take off is short, level high speed pass was good, unlimited verticle climp was excellent.
Even Raf fly Bandit every day with a Titan SE. But he love this EDF Bandit too. Only thing he ask for is more flight time like the turbine.[] Sorry Raf, the batteries is not there yet.
I had complete parts you need to convert it to E-power.
Let me do another test on 12s system for final R&D test and let you guys know what is the best set up for it.

Anything is not burn kero is a foamie. The P-70 is using Kero and you can't have Kero for foamy.

Yesterday I did 3 flights with 12 system in the heavy 17.25 lbs A-4. The performance was very good.
I just finish charge all the pack from yesterday flight. The A-4 only use 3400mAh for 4 minutes flight.
Since the Bandit is lighter and cleaner than the A-4. I think this new 12s system go to be awesome. Tonight will do more test with 12s system and put up more videos.

Naahhh ... last time I studied logic, "If it doesn't burn kero, it's a foamie" was nowhere near the same as "if it does burn kero, it's not a foamie".

The latter precludes kero-burning foamies ; the former does not. Therefore the two assertions are not equal.

I always like your logic. Thanks, you cleared this up for me. I have just been so confused lately!

Green Power Foamy!!
I'm sure you guys don't know that Tam built this for Al Gore... you have to save the spotted tree frogs out there in San Jose

I love it Tam... kero stinks and makes me sick

And now when guys crash they won't burn down there home field

That's a foamy I'd be proud to fly any day

Your shinny new ESC will be there tomorrow before noon

You know this forum is why I don't think I'll fly my EDF's at rally’s anymore ... to many kero heads dis on them... plus I have to smell there nasty kero [:'(]
I’m glad there’s a lot more electric only rally’s

I'll keep to myself and the rest of the electro nerds

Is an option for those are not able to do turbine for some reason.
Turbine band some club, fire season turbine are not allow and no waiver needed.
Nothing beat turbine when come to jets.
But those love EDF. This great Sport Jets to do it.
Everyone had there taste of the hobby.
It is a hobby. Turbine or EDF there all toys for the one that fortune enough to afforded.
I just hate to see some of the turbine pilots treat EDF is toys and their are not.
Special I knew couple guys here local had the same attitude and we help getting them going to turbine jet from the begining. Now their thinks been a turbine pilots made them better and even making fun of me flying EDF jets.
That why I start the thread calling EDF is a foamies.

This not apply to any my friends flying with me at SCCMAS. Their just made fun of me just for been funnies.

Tam,
Im not making fun of the plane, infact i really like the idea of an EDf...the easy of operation etc is great. I just dont like the sound...and that only my personal opinion. Not intened to offend EDF flyers.

cheers...its only a hobby..and yes they are still toys...

Easy only if the R&D been done for user end. High power EDF take a lot to get it works right.
Someone just jump to EDF can be very expensive and trouble to get to fly right.
Turbine is more easy to do. Anyone can follow the instruction to charge battery for ECU, fuel and propane. It run.
Only problem is learn how fly it right and use to the throttle lag approach on landing. Also know how to land high wing loading jets.
EDF doesn't had throttle lag or high wing loading. It glide the glider and easy on landing.

ok agree....with ease of operation i meant less stuff to carry to the field, only chargers basically...no liquid etc. i wanted to get the bvm electra but heck, the pricing is a joke...it may turn out to be more expensive than a turbine project if one buys 3-4 spare batteries.

Have you check out all the videos I fly with TJ100 power plant?
The batteries I use are less expensive and even the decent chinese lipos work with our system. That is another option not to deal with expensive cells.
