Default Sturmgeschütz III

Hey Guys,,

I have slowly been working on my Stug III, here is the work I have done and plan to do!

It now runs off of the cheapest hobby radio you can get a 4 channel GWS from the Robot Market place!

The DBCRC2 allows me to run this or any hobby radio now! I do not recommend this Radio, spend a few extra bucks, but for me it will have to do for now!

I have also taken advantage of the DBCRC2 by adding the IR Battle components Tamiya compatible!

Next the top roller wheel mods, but I jst kind of eye balled them because I have all metal that I want to install at some point!

Metal tracks very nice from RCCommand,

Plastic gearbox I will go with metal and new 8 tooth pinion, when I go all metal suspension!

Ok the paint job, camo and weathering,,, still a work in progress, but for my first effort, I am happy with it!

I took it up to Merles house and he gave me some good feedback on some camo additions and I think I will give a few of his

Ideas a try! It always helps to get a second opinion at least it does for me!

Thanks Chiefsonn,

I got that idea from YHR & Borealis, they may have used a little bit different stuff, but this was closest look I could find in a rattle can! Its a Rust-Oleum paint called Hammered for an metal hammered finsih!

you painted it with rattle cans? the whole thing or just that first coat? I know they have camo paint in rattle cans but I'm not sure if they're safe for plastic.. I wonder how it would come out??

They have all kinds of paint now in rattle cans, and most are OK for ABS plastic, some are specfically made for plastic! But I just bought the 3 main standard flat camo colors!

Someday I will step up to the Tamiya regulation colors!

Hey Thanks Panther G,

Hey,,, no one has commented on one thing that is a little unusual about the tank!!!!!

No maybe it is hard to see, but you can see it on at least one of the pictures and most likely only Stug III owners can make it out? It does blend in very well, and here is a hint it is in the area of one of the hatches.............

This Stug III is running off of a 75 mhz radio by installing the DBCRC2 / DBU is is full option Tamiya compatible battle system!

You will notice the gun is able to shoot over and over, but the cannon flash and IR only shoot every 5 seconds!

It was easy to spot the wee pup for me because I'm in the process of working on a HL Stug III as my first R/C Tank. Having a lot of fun with it.

It's certainly not up to par with some of the work I've seen here but we all have to start somewhere

Hey Gereke don't sweat it, this hobby should be about having fun! I am really into the Battling along with electonics and modification of the tanks, but I am slowing getting some other skills! But if it stops becoming fun, well then its not a hobby anymore, and lets face it some of these guys are at the master level of their expertise!

Great looking stug Phil. I have a question about the hammered steal thou. Did the added texture cover up any of the smaller details? I'm kinda curious as to how thick the paint is. You can still see the panel lines in the pictures so I'm guessing it didn't hide too much detail?

Hey Don,

It is thicker then a normal spray paint but I just tired to keep a good distance spraying it and just enough to coat the tank once over! You can still see the deatail as in the weld lines, so I think in most places it worked well!

Phil, Great job. That is a good looking Stug and a fine effort, very cool. And great color. Now give it a few more light coats of rattle can Testors Dullcote and it will look even better. Todays a good day, it should be in the 80's and dullcote drys good & quick on hot days. The effect will better put paint and weathering on the same surface level plus the little panzer will even photograph better. But still, again, it looks great. John

Thanks, John and good advice! I will get some of that and try it eventually, I think it needs more of the lighter DAK yellow on the top!
