Default Cell Tower Interference?

Has any one had any experience with, or know if any problems exist with, celluar phone towers interfering with flying? We have to relocate our field after falling prey to local soccer activities. We found a great place with a flat grassy area for runway but it ends about fifty yards from the the base of a tall cell tower. Airspace is unlimited in the other direction.
Thanks for any info,

Do a search on it here on RCU. It has been discussed many times. Consensus is, no worries. You shouldn't have any trouble with it, as long as you don't try to fly through it.

I agree with flyboy if you're using a good SC or DC receiver. I placed my cell phone in the fuse near the Rx and made a call to the cell phone. It had to be right next to the Rx before I saw slight servo glitching, but it was not sufficient to enter failsafe mode. I fly off a field near two cell phone towers with a Futaba SC receiver (PCM). No problems so far.

Thanks guys for the info on the tower. I also forgot to mention, about 200yds away is the local police station. We already obtained permission from them to fly regarding any noise problem. Think their 2-ways would cause any problem either? I don't know what freq. they operate at but I will ask.

The police radios won't interfere but that cell tower on the other hand. That's a different story.

Anyone flying that close to a cell tower is asking for trouble. Once your plane hits it, well, let me be the first to tell you that tower will win every time.

Here in Lancaster, Pa., our club field is close to a tower but not as close as your new field. We don't have any problems.

I've flown around cell towers with no problems. The old windmill use to catch a few of us, but thats another story.

We also fly just "this side" of the trees from the police station/firehouse with no problems.

well here in the Bahamas we have glitching on a regular basis on Chanel 48 and the only thing I can think of is a nice 300 foot cell tower beaming right at us....

If you're getting interference from it then there's a problem with the cell tower. The frequencies a Cell tower uses are several orders of magnitude higher in frequency. Either that or it's not the tower.
