Default *NUTECH* GT5-R has arrived.

ALL NEW NUTECH GT5-R 6th august 2009 ........ thursday.

this morning at 11:00am the postman bought me my new nutech GT5-R. and man was i excited...the box was huge )

MAKE-nutech GT5-R

ENGINE- CY 23CC

BODY-ford mustang gt

SERVOS-hiteks 5745 mg x2 [supplied by myself]

RADIO-2.4GHZ FUTABA clone.

PIPE- tuned chrome/stainless pipe

BRAKES-cable front & layshaft rear.

BIREF DESCRIPTION-complete alloyed up onroad car to compitition level including c&c cut a-arms front &rear, alloy uprights 4corners,alloy diff/mounts,complete alloybulkhead and bodymounts, alloy adjustable shocks x 4,silicone oil filled alloy diff.alloy servo ballbearing servo saver, alloy engine mounts x2.and nice unique alloy touches like anti roll bar mounts.and body mounts ) car came nicely rapped up in large box with instructions for radio and body decals.also supplied was a futaba clone 2.4ghz radio/reciever which looks awesome.clear shell also included in package.

FIRST IMPRESSION- well out of the box i was shocked as this is a high spec level car up there with the best compitition models,to say i work fast is an understatment as i got car at 11am and i have shell painted and radio gear installed for 3pm
it looks awesome, everything is alloyed up,the a-arms im very impressed with as they look really nice and chunky.but overall car feels light weight.ialso like the chrome plated wheels a breath of fresh air for a change from white/black.

DISLIKES SO FAR- so far just one the servo horns are week looking well they were slipping in my hitek servos anyway so i used hitek alloy servo horns also.but these servo horns that were supplied with car would prob fit other servo aplications.i like the servo mounts actually strong looking.

FURTHER COMMENTS- im very intrested in checking out the complete package as car has a multi ride hight adjustment possibilitys so makes it suitable for most areas both on/off track, but im very intrested in seeing how these chinese tyres do.

here is a video of first start up.just take a look at the quality of this machine.....im well impressed.

VIDEO-
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UBlzHHKQrls

NEXT UP-radio gear installation, body shellpainting & lots of nice pictures.

i need your thoughts and opinions now on my bodywork

well i must say one thing it was the most trouble free assambly on a largescale car i have ever came across.not a bother.even the shell was a nice piece to work on.

i like the small touches like ball bearing servo saver, rear alloy arb mounts, servo mounts, chrome pipe and wheels.......all these touches are very unique to nutech and are nice for a change.

i really love the mustang shell, its just class...

i really cant wait for break in video now tomorrow.

CANT WAIT. )

Default RE: *NUTECH* GT5-R has arrived.

crap do they? i was hoping tyres would be kind of ok...i was looking forward to trying them out in fairness.
sure i might try them for the break in video anyway later if i get finished work early.

on thing so far i would like if nutech done with this machine is made a side battery holder like i had to make cause in fairness there was no where to put battery when servos were installed.i made up a holder on top of the lower body mounts and it is grand and out of the way. [pics in atachments below]

another thing i noticed so far is this beast is heavy.a lot heavier than my fg evo.

also from my experience with onroads i do not like the epoxy discs on the rear layshaft brake, dont get me wrong the layshaft brakes are great but the stock epoxy discs are crap and will let you down on all models,i upgraded mine on my evo to carbon fiber and they are still only ALRIGHT.....cables allround in my opinion.

p.s foxy whats your opinion on the chrome wheels,i like them.....

but that cy sounds to have bite in it doesnt it.
lets see later....

cheers foxy

Those wheels and tires are sold in separate packets by ansmann for crazy low prices, I've tried them. They look ok, but the tires are not good for anything serious. I think FG BBS wheels look the best.

well i will tell you that its kinda of crazy to let a car of this caliber to be shipped with them then.

but in saying that there is a problem with my tyre choice elligi at the moment cause there factory burnt down in italy..... [be some smell of rubber there lol]

basicly anytyres i try and order at the moment seems to be delayed even pmt cronos........strange alright......

maybe a nice set of pmt cronos now and lower ride hight then.......mmmm

well im going to do nothing yet only break it in with these tyres and see how every thing performs.

Don't get me wrong the tires are fine for running around, they're just not as good as the rest of the car.

Default RE: *NUTECH* GT5-R has arrived.

GT5-R UPDATES AND BREAK IN PROCDURE....

so got this beast out this evening and ran it for 2 tanks its a fine machine,i had to adjust ride height and camber/castor also i ran it in for one tank which you will see in the video.

videos need to be watched in sequence as first was to bring car to area, second running it in [small vids] and another short vid of CAR BROKE in.

TRANSPORTER- fg elcon/beetle & tralier

CAR- nutech gt5-r

WEATHER- great

CAMERA- nicola

ENGINE- cy 23cc

AIM FOR THIS EVENING- engine break in

TYRES- annsman/chrome wheels

RADIO- 2.4ghz futaba clone- response times a little slow but not bad.

COMMENTS-
lads im in AWE this car is very very fast,i dont know exactly what nutech have done to this model but its like A RACE PORTED motor........very fast as you can see in the video.handling is very good considering i was running on 50/% halfway tyres.although this was only a test run/break in run i wasnt able to test tyres enough.
fast car, that cy 23cc s matching if not faster than zenoah 23cc,now i never thought i would hear myself saying that as im not a huge cy fan but there is something up cause its very fast.maybe its an upgraded one....?....
i didnt check gear sizes yet but i think they are enlarged. hence more oooomph....

FAULTS-
so far i only ran two tanks but my two rear shocks have already thrown in the towel so to speak, they were leaking oil badly and bouncy for the finish [see pics below] isuspect o ring/seal failure or the bottom cir-clip usually breaks and causes problems.
also exhaust coupling flange broke and almost deafened me in the process lol....now one thing i spotted and it is a major problem so far,i see the alloy spur gear wearing at a rapid pace...i think the rotational mass is too high with that big alloy spur...[too heavy] most manufactures use steel clutch/plastic spur, plastic spur being lighter and having a lesser rotational mass results in less wear, now i compliment nutech with this new twin alloy gear design but i cant see it working for them.now another thing is these tyres are only a half way tyre,it is just madness to release a good onroad model with these things......very little grip.....useable for experienced drivers but disastrous for newbies.....these tyres got to go.
also layshaft epoxy brake discs are crap i really would suggest a cable REAR brake also for this model as its HEAVY. or at least carbon fiber rear rotors.

FURTHER COMMETNS-
so far i have only run two tanks and it handles good, nice and solid with the weight, but these above parts need to be addressd urgently or its a no go area. im a little disappointed that i cant run it again until i replace the above mentioned parts.

untill i replace parts i await running it.

VIDEOS-
these need to be watched in sequence. 1 to 4

I would tell you if I knew the answer. Personally I suspect that this is not the finished product. For one thing I know that Nutech are planning on changing the body and tires before full release.

Dan, about the spur gear, it's normal to see wome wear on the first runs as the gears bed in. The shocks, I don't know until you post close ups. Are the bottom caps plastic?

Default RE: *NUTECH* GT5-R has arrived.

some news on gt5-r

ok i got some good news on car first off i repaired exhaust flange.

second the shocks were good all that was wrong was the bottom caps had worked themselves loose and leaked oil, actually these look like great shocks to me upon inspection they look very well built.

yes foxy is right the gears i looked at them closer and they have some wear but its maybe beading in.but i still feel a little too much on the spur.....i will have to get pics up later, maybe it will be ok...we will see.

SO FOLKS GOOD TO GO..........apart from these TYRES.......AHHH lol

but i need a lot more running with this to give an overall opinion, i would like to see how the drive train holds up like the diff, drive gears etc etc....

also i would like to make more adjustments and see how it performs.
