Started back on my Shrike .10-os .25 vrdf project, mainly because the f-20 is basically done, time to move on to something else, shoved an extra spar in (CF arrow shaft) and glassed some areas, Hs225 in the wings and elevator, rebuilt new firewall .500" back from original position, and re-hinged with an extra hinge added in each control surface, thought about making a cowl for the engine/pipe set-up, but I just want to finish it and fly it, should be FUN!

just got done reading your F-20 thread..... looks like you've got a serious speed addiction!!!!
I have a friend that put a .46 on a .20 size shrike. Haven't really heard how it flies but should be quick. Is this a scratch build??

No, this plane was given to me from a fellow modeler thats had so much trouble with his eyes he is not able to fly anymore, but it was built for a .15, and the covering was coming off anyways so I stripped it and modified it a little.

i have the same exhaust system for most of my small motors, i drill thru the edge of the header for a 6-32 pressure tap, been successful since i first tried while working at mac's products, anxious to hear about maiden flights.
, BTW did you remove head shim yet?[8D]

That engine looks perfect for that plane. It's been awhile since I looked at a .10 sized Shrike, there used to be more Shrike threads in the good ole days....possibly either peaking out, or hitting an all time low with the guy who crammed a .60 into one and managed to get in a parabolic flight. IIRC, there was a video of the flight?

ARGGGGG%#@##*[>:], sometimes you just have to walk away, I'm trying to cover right now, lots of angles a contours, oh well it might not look the prettiest I've done, but it'll be fun.

You can't fly that, it's wrinkly..
If it's like it is here tomorrow morning, ain't no flying happening. Torrential downpours, black swirling clouds..

I'm game, it fits my demographic..
TokinRVdude, scanning to disk at a copy place was 12 bucks last time I scanned an ACE 1/2A plan set for no particular reason a month or so ago. I'll pay or horsetrade. Get me a copy I'll look at doing it. I can include the arrow shaft spars too, got those in stock. Or just give the Walmart sku#.. ;-)
Somewhere I still have the plans I drew for a Doreshenko style RC combat model, inspired by an article in one of the mags sometime int he '80's meebe or early '90's. Might have been Model Av. Anyhow, a few months after that article was published the first Shrikes came out - methinks Joe Beshar must have seen those combat models at the same time and thought "good idea!". And a good idea it was.

I got the original set of drawings with the plane, thank goodness.
The plans don't have the rib drawings though, but it could be a airfoil modification jobby anyway, maybe a thinner wing?

Had a couple of hiccups in the build, like modifying the top forward fuse for header/pipe clearance, that was a pain, probably won't maiden till next week now.

I have a .40 size Shrike that I stuffed an OS .46 VX-DF motor into which is kind-of what you have done here. If it is anything like mine, you will have your hands full. It is very fast and very fun.

I thought so too, but the battery pack sits just behind the CF spar I put in it, I thought I would be putting the pack in the tail.
