Hi Verne,
Thank you for the advice, I am going to implement it.

Covering a balsa surface with liquid anything adds weight. On something as large as a wing, the amount would be significant. However, I do use Balsarite on the cabosil and resin gap filler between the root rib and fuselage because monocote won't stick to the resin. It's typically a very narrow strip and I just use an artist's brush to cover it with balsarite. Hope this helps. BTW, your build articles are great!

Hi all,
Someone recommended me to use Coverite Balsarite before covering the wings with Monokote.
I would like to have some pros and cons opinions / thoughts.
Thanks in advance,
Isaac Najary

Thanks for your builds Najary. I have enjoyed both of them.
I can not tell from the pictures how you get your overlaps. Could you describe how.
Thanks, Preston

Take a look at post 188, in pic no. 4 I cut the shape with 3mm overlaping, in pic no. 5 you can see at the trailing edge the overlaping.
I hope that answer you question.

Isaac: Could you briefly go over the procedure you utilize to apply your individual covering pieces with your covering iron. I assume you do not attempt to stretch individual pieces as they're being applied, correct?

I agree. I can't imagine trying to tack and iron down that large red monocote section with areas cut out without getting wrinkles. Impressive!!!

I do stretch individual pieces as they're being applied.
Here is where I learned almost all the covering techniques, I think this DVD is a must for anyone who is going to cover a plane.

Just wonder if some computer program is used to design and visualize the pattern.

No computer program was used,
I copied the patterns from pictures in the internet and draw them on Bristol paper with a pencil and an eraser.
