Hi Dave,
Looks like you had great weather for the vent as well.
The photos are great, is there any chance Laurie is willing to share some camera/setting details etc for us would be photo hackers out there.
I've got the camera, just need the brain cells to remember the settings etc for some decent shots.
Hopefully will be in Germany for IJMC meeting on 23rd January (I am IJMC rep for Aust/NZ) then ducking across the pond to UK to Traplet booze up, so will have a few days spare in between for getting around -
are you in town that time of year?
Best Regards

I'm sure Laurie will chip in...I think the lens is everything!
Yep, I'm around, don't go to Germany until early Feb. The shop is only 1.5km from the M25 J20.

Thanks for the comments, though think i must stop taking pics and do some flying,
Dave the tower shots sort of worked, still got to sort some more out, tad busy at the moment, as for camera settings, i just put it on aperature priority, set at F2.8, ISO 200, sometimes put EV +1 and rattled away all day, what makes these pics work is the lens Nikon 300mm F2.8 silly money but does the job very fast at foucusing, spent some time yesterday shooting at Heathrow Airport from along side the runway and in the Tower, used various lenses but the 300mm lens gave the best results.

Hi Laurie,
Thanks for the setting details. I have a cannon D50 with 18-200 lens, (not as good as your 300), but certainly worth mucking around with for a bit and see what happens.
Dave W - will be in Germany 22.01.10 to 25.01.10, then UK from 25.01.10 and out on the 31.01.10 to come home, via Singapore.
So will try and get to shop in that time frame - make sure there is COLD beer in the fridge, not that warm stuff
Regards

I like many others have just been amazed at your photos, they are so much better than anything anyone else can produce. I thought I had bought an expensive lens when I bought the Nikon 80-200 F2.8 VR lens, I refer to it as my turbine lens, as it cost as much as one. Yours though I guess at nearly £4000 is like a twin turbine cost! The difference in the results are just amazing and well worth the money. Also there is some considerable skill involved, well done!
