Tauchpanzer rebuilding....
Just started working on this Tauchpanzer. It came in yellow but I decided to repaint it in grey. I added a set of drive bearings from welshdragon to the asiatam hull and removed the extra track links from the front to add the scratchbuilt bolt-on armor plate. It's just a start but the basecoat is on and I blackwashed her to get a darke grey color. Here's a few pics if anyone's interested in another pz III...

Looks nice...are you going to set it up as a Tauchpanzer with everything sealed, snorkel tube w/ antenna, etc? Needs lot of mud....although they were never used as intended, they were used in Russia and always around water & mud. Tauchpanzer is a very unique and interesting tank. Tauchpanzer insignia can be found in Panzer Colors Vol II. Easy to copy and make a decal or just print on thin stock and apply.

On top of the snorkel is the radio antenna with the cable running down to the TC. The blast off cap is on the main gun muzzle with ignition cable leading to the the TC cupola. Never could understand the thinking behind this design. I've been mired down in 3 feet of mud but to drive a tank under water across the channel...in a totally unknown depth of mud and only that short snorkel [&:][:@][&o]...how is the VTR going to get to me and who'se going to hook up the tow cable[X(]. Be altogether not nice seeing water running in thru the tube.[:-] Believe I'd be satisfied with just crossing the Don or Dnieper. ( in summer). Still, an interesting tank. Yours going to be waterproof?

No ideas about waterproofing. Mine got into some wet grass near a sprinkler, but that's about it. Phil has had lots of his through a creek near where he lives. Maybe he has ideas..Phil, you checkin' this? My tanks are more scale models that run other than IR battle tanks, so I don't beat them up as bad as some guys. It would be a real bear to get the tank fully sealed and run it as designed.
Good luck on yours...looks like you are making pretty good progress.

Thanks alot man. I'm trying my best with the little knowledge I have of this model. I think it would be a chore to comlpetely waterproof this thing though. I am oing to seal the obvious areas of the lower hull and put the switch up in the turret. I don't plan to attempt to fully submerge it. I wonder if anyone has done that with one of these though.

Here's a couple pics if you don't have the books. I have a couple more with a short T-Pz history which I'd have to scan. Just sent you an email.

As it tured out I decided to leave what was on there and work with it. I will look into making decals for the next one. This is where I'm at with the Tauchpanzer III. I just recieved the aluminum barrel and a few other goodies from Welshdragon and I'm waiting on the asiatam recoil I ordered from Phil tonight. I also have the coupolacoming from tankzone,so bear with me on that missing part. I just wanted to share a few pics of it as it sits now.

Nice looking tank i like the marine slime look on the running gear. Just thinking about riding in one of those things under the surface gives me the creeps.
