Default Honington - Easter 2010

Good weekend - Weather alot warmer yesterday than today - which I think affected the turnout for today. Didnt get chance to take many photos as I had me dog with me.
These were all taken Saturday:

I need a better lense now I think.
Its not hard to use camera - just make sure the plane is in the middle of shot and in focus. Also the photo made smaller so that fits on here and don't take a year to up load.
When I finished school I was going to do photography but the course was media based so I had to do Radio etc. So never bothered and went and did Child care for something else to do. I now work for the biggest Plant Hire firm in the UK. Total mad wasted a few years of my life id say!

Laura, No part of education is ever wasted but it can get uncanny at times. My youngest is determined to finnish her doctorate in special education (about 1/ 1/2 years) and they are letting teachers go by the droves over here.

ok, I have to ask, what happened to the L-39? Gear wouldn't come down, then belly land and it caught on fire? What that Skymasters L-39?

No, what you see on the pics was a fast low pass

One engine rail was broken and it pushes beside the tube .....

And it was a Airworld

I was the one putting it out in the picture.............. The L39 did a fast low pass and hit the runway (not particularly hard). I think this impact broke the turbine mounting rail which caused the turbine to be out of alignment in the plane as it did the final circuit. The plane was internally on fire as it approached landing and when it landed on the grass the fuz broke and then the big fire. I grabbed an extinguisher and by the time I got across the runway it was well alight. Airframe was a total loss. Some of the gear seemed ok however. Sad loss but these things happen

My dad had similar thing happen to him many years ago at the Nationals with an old Simjet 23. It seized and kept chucking fuel in the engine and it then ignited. You could see both the inlets as it was coming in to land were alight inside, flames coming out of wheel wells. He landed it at his feet and flames were put out. Back of fuz was a sorry state. He totally resprayed the F15 and someone later purchased. Dont think they had been to the Nats though!
