Default BAD SELLER WARNING - AIR POWER TECHNOLOGY

hello,

Let me introduce myself quickly, I am a French RC-pilot,I wish to state that I do not speak English and I used a translator to go of my anger.
I run into this forum to warn you and to go back to my experience of a certain vendor engine of your country!

the one that called AIR POWER TECHNOLOGY, the website is: http://airpowertechnologies.net/

we decide to head to dealer because we build a patrol across spitifire third.a link from the French forum with photos:
http://www.modelisme.com/forum/aero-...lle-1-3-a.html

but the problem is not with planes but the engines that we buy from that seller, we chose two inline engines 11.6 (200 cc).

upon receipt, I realized that the machine was not clean, ie the admission of the carburetor housing is handmade!

the first rounds of helices, the first engines (mine) has just turned 2 hours and I had a gap in the linkage of over 2mm.

impossible to continue, so I decide to look at the problem, but said the details had this seller telling me that the warranty would not work.I agree but this is not normal that a loose engines quickly!
I decided to wait until my friend passed out on his own, whether I should return mine.

and surprise, the second engine failure after 20 minutes of walking (not the propeller), then for not having a problem with the vendor we choose not to touch the engine.

after contact with this one, to offer him a refund of the full amount.
the vendor decide not to respond and leaving me with $ 3,740 for two engines dead ....

First I decide to do the right thing for me seller no longer sell in France, and I walk towards you so that you will be warned, because it is a pity that in our passion there is scammers.

I am enclosing two photos of my engines, connecting rod / piston:

http://yfrog.com/1smoteur2j

and connecting rod / crankshaft

French to English?
Dear Sir,
The first picture is not visible, it is a problem on the site.

In addition, I think that you should contact the salesman and explain your position verbally that this is a lot of
money.

I HOPE that brings you to an agreement.

Good luck

(The first picture seems to show up OK for me?)

Default RE: BAD SELLER WARNING - AIR POWER TECHNOLOGY

I have 3 engines here from the same company...4.2 single, a big twin, and a small single...None are useable..
Also a brand new crankcase for the big twin with a crank so far out that the 2 case halves wiggle up and down when the crank is rotated..The case has never been assembled with cylinders, the crank turns too tight when the case halves are bolted together...The crank can't be straightened, all the joints are welded...
The bearing bore in the 4.2 is .015 higher in one half, so the case couldn;t be tightened..The fix was grinding the rear crank extension by hand so it was undersize enough..There is no fix on this one, it would take a rebore and sleeve in one case half and a new crank that actually fits into the rear bearing tight enough to not slop around when the engine is running....
I can prove all this, I HAVE the cases in my shop...and another 3.2 with the bottom big end bearing out when the pressed in drawn cup bearing came apart....
I spent most of a day getting one of the smaller ones to run, don't know how long it lasted.....[&:]

Both photos came up OK for me.
Here are the photos for anyone not able to see the links provided by the OP

For this sort of $$$, looks pretty grubby

The parts look familiarly "xx" to me, including the lack of spacers on the piston pin/bearing assy, and the web rubbing in the crankcase. Reason for me to stop coöperating with the guy who tricked me into buying prototypes.
The first picture shows the engine as-is, the second picture shows the bearing retaining rings that keeps the rollers central on the piston pin. Without it, the bearing can move one way, and the rod the other. The rod mid position was taken care of by adjusting the crank in the crankcase, which also was not done by the manufacturer.

Thetwin of the OP looks likea high dollar engine, made of 25 dollar engine parts and some CNC work thrown in, without doing what it takes.

As an American, I personally appologize for this kind of behavior. This is unacceptable in the US as it is anywhere in the world. It is now in RCUniverse and will be passed on and around.

Cheers,

Chip

Unfortunately, these sort of business practices are an International phenomenon.
There are companies that push out products like this, especially for export because they are aware of the difficulties involved in seeking justice from one country to another

Hate to say it, but this has been going on for about 15 years, Never could understand how they have been around as long as they have, If there are any old timer Joe Nall people reading this, This is the company that used to have the big display that rotated the different engines on a big round wheel so they could run them for customers, I guess the ones they where running for show were hand picked.

I got burned to about 9 years ago, bought a used new in the box one that would never run, was so tight you could hardly turn it over with the plug out, There response to me was, run it it will losen up. LOL

The sad part is they know the engines are no good when they sell them.

Wasn't that long ago I received an engine from another source that has a bearing gap on the wrist pin worse than the one in the picture. Never did run the engine. Told the manufacturer, who sent me another cylinder to handle some other problems, but never did hear of the fix for the rod/piston/bearing fit. Needless to say I have not made many recommendations for buying anything in the company line up.

Hope the OP gets some kind of positive response from the seller, although I fear it will be otherwise.

Well I sure tried to help. Below is part of the email from spitfirefrench.
thank you for the calls

no I do not want to repair the engine because it does not worth, anyway he knows that it's bad quality.

I would simply ask for a refund, nothing simpler.

He does not answer my messages afraid to face the truth.

I kinda agree ...That was a huge chunk of money...and it may be true....the engine may be just thown together form other engines to make it look good, but may be next to worthless. Wish I lived closer to the seller....I would put pressure on him like a pressure cooker!!! I do think the seller should at the very least, honor the return of the money with the 15% restocking fee. I feel the buyer,s dismay. Capt,n

That was a really a great gesture on your part to get involved on a fellow modeller's behalf, and I do hope that this ends amicably for him.
