AR 9200 Powerbox Question - working with 11X; Better or worse?
I am building a Boomerang Elan. I bought the 9200 and have an 11X. Here's my conundrum:
In a normal receiver, I could use the transmitter's dual control functions to get two servos working on one control surface (not ganged, but one servo for each piece of the surface like a split elevator). Doing it this way (e.g. using the elevator channel and the aux 3 channel) I could have independent trims and curves even with each servo.
With the 9200 receiver installed, if I plug the ailerons, say, into the two aileron ports, they will both function from the aileron channel and any trims I apply will change BOTH servos, right? Seems to me that the 9200 is identical to using a Y-harness.
Am I missing something or do I lose the ability to fine-tune single function servos independently when using the AR9200? (I realize that I'm picking up extra channels to use with other things and that is a prime benefit of the receiver)

I don't have a AR9200, but the main benifit of using two channels for ailerons is that you can use each aileron in tandem to move in the same direction when using crow or independently when using them as ailerons, also you can sub trim each servo to have exactly the same centre so get equal movements on both mixed channels.

RE: AR 9200 Powerbox Question - working with 11X; Better or worse?
My elan setup on 9 channels:
the power box is like a matchbox in this context
Look at my pics in the other post. 9 channels is 9 channels even in the pwe box.
1.Th
2.Ail
3.El on Y cord, or matchbox
4.Rudder Matchbox with Nose Gear
5. Gear
A1 Flaps
A2.SMoke
A3 Brakes
A4.AIL L
if you are not running smoke, then use that channel for Elevator (2).
There is another way to get some channels back using Andy Low's gear tamer management system. it mixes the NG steering like a matchbox and mixes brake with down elevator with gear down, so you get two channels back. That would let you use flaperons, dual elevators, and smoke effectively giving you 11 chans..
The problem is with 9 PB, you are short one elevator input, I complained to Eric and John about this oversight, it needs dual elevator slots. I went to 12 channel radio and it mixed alot easier using 11 chan. the elevator servo lengths were almost 8 feet, so it was hard to get a good signal to them. So it wont help you alot. If you have a 12 chan its alot easier.
If you have any questions on how to set it up PM or Email me and i will walk you thorough it. the 11 works very similar to the 12x.
