Hi,
Take a look at Al´s Hobbies Jet page! Tried to include a link...didn´t work!
I think it looks like a customized Boomerang XL! Wonder what makes it so expensive compared to the other two fiber glassBoomers: Elan and XL???
I´ve got a Pro Lynx landing gear and a JC P-120 SE looking for a new home, but...........

From Allen.....
Torus is a little smaller span (especially with small wingtips on and no tiptanks) than the XL but has almost the same total wing area, so it retains the huge lift ability. Wider chord gives it higher Reynolds numbers which helps too.
But the thicker internal wing design is all new and can stand the weight and thrust of the bigger turbines. The wings are built up construction but painted finish. If you look at the links you'll see the first really tough testing when Ali said "OK, can I push it to breaking point?" and I gave him the OK to try and break it and you can see the way he pushed high G both positive and negative with no holding back on the throttle. The model stayed together and Ali got all excited. That afternoon cost me 5 or 6 gallons of fuel as he enjoyed it so much! I couldn't get him off the sticks.
My prototypes all weigh in at close to 30 lbs dry. They all have 34 to 38 lb. turbines including a P160SX, Simjet 130, Wren 200XL and a Behotec 130. All push it along very nicely!
Ali and I will be taking flight videos for the website soon, UK weather permitting! The following is from a spec. list I did for the advertising guy, so it's a bit "flowery". I've also attached some shots of the first prototypes.
USA PRICE only $1695.00 (UK £1399) Kits will be in the UK end of September, in the USA shortly after. We don't yet know shipping cost but it's all in one huge box, so it'll be more than a few dollars.
The Torus will be supplied with our Sullivan 125 ounce (One US Gallon) fuel tank, also with striking wing tip tanks, a full Sullivan 4-40 pushrod kits, horns and Gold-N-Clevis pack and a full wing, booms and tail protective bags set,
At 83" span or (90" span with the great looking wing tip tanks fitted), and 87" long overall, this is an impressive model jet, with great presence in the sky.
Torus must be the ultimate Boomerang and I'm very proud of it. It is a truly aerobatic jet which is not only sleek and good looking with a choice of three great colour schemes, but has a performance that has to be seen to be believed.
It is suitable for turbines such as JetCat P120 or P160 (and yet will fly well on a P80). Torus has the familiar Boomerang low speed ability and sweet handling that you've come to expect, but also has a high speed performance that is on the edge of scary. (see YouTube;- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5O7Wf...ture=related ). Easy access to all control systems is achieved as in all Boomerang Jets by a full length hatch top of the fuselage.
Build time is very short as the entire fuselage and centre section comes in one beautiful composite moulding, as do the booms. Part of the stunning performance comes from the remarkable light but incredibly strong wing structure, tested to stand enormous "G" loads during manoeuvres. (see Ali putting Torus through some scary tough test flying on YouTube;- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zbdSZWcvh4s .)
Custom retracts are available including Dreamworks or in Canada Behotec from Altecare. Same set as used in the XL and Elan.
I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. The downside is I'm going through gallons of fuel like there's no tomorrow!
Kind Regards,
Alan.

Hey Sandor , now we know what happened to all of the Classic Flash Tip Tanks

The new Torus with the tip tanks looks close to the Formost that I made with some tip tanks, I can tell you this the tip tanks make a huge difference is visibility

If you need tip tanks on a model of this size for visibility, then you may need glasses LOL
This is much better looking than the XL, but the name is rubbish, Alan should of stuck with naming it the Mako as originally planned.

Reading through the description, it sounds like for the added cost you get a more complete kit. you get a fuel tank, hardware pack, tip tanks, etc. not too bad of an exchange once you have built one and understand how much all the bits add up to. especially bits made for the kit.

Plus it sounds like the wings are built up, but painted (no more covering); and the fuse and wing center section are molded in one piece.
Sounds like it's worth the extra money to me.
I just wish I would have known it was coming out. I just recently finished building an XL, but I think I would have prefered one of these Torus's instead.

AFAIK, the tip tanks are standard, but optional if you want to install them or not.
The kit also includes tank, linkages, wing, stab and boom bags.
