101" Wingspan BDRO Long Kit plane by SIC R/C Planes
This is a custom designed aircraft created by SIC R/C Planes. It is sold here as a long kit, meaning all the wood, including spars, landing gear, windows and such are included. You will need to supply your own radio, servos, some hardware, covering, adhesives and so on. This kit is fully laser cut from top grade plywood, the windows for the sides are also laser cut and included in the kit. Depending on your particular build options this plane will weigh 23 to 30# when ready to fly. We recommend a gas engine for the power, from 30 to 70cc. Wing is 101" and length is nearly 6.5'. These planes are made for STOL performance and handle windy locations very well. The large tires also make landing or taking of on grass fields no problem at all. Can be configured as simple 4 channel operation or 6 channel or more. We fly these using flaperon mixing with great results. These are great planes for the beginner to gas or for modelers that like to be able to see the aircraft when in flight! The airfoil is flat bottom and gives the BDRO stable flight at speeds near stall around 22 mph depending on your configuration, and great aerobatics at full throttle and a larger 50 to 70cc engine. The BDRO is built for ruggedness and to be a forgiving highly stable aircraft that can stay aloft for 30 minutes or more on a single tank of fuel. Full size plans are included as well direct line of communication with the designer for any assembly questions or problems. In addition we offer repair kits for any section of this aircraft. No need to buy parts you don't need in the event you have a hard landing or snap on take off! You can literally purchase as little as 1 wing rib or an entire sub section of the fuselage or wings! We recommend a 45cc engine for pilots that are used to gas models and want an everyday flyer that is quick to assemble at the field and can be a slow stable cruise or an all out aerobatic show of skill. Front window is vented to allow cooling of radio components. As well the BDRO features two top hatches that allow easy access to important parts of the plane. The rear hatch is for servo access and the front for ignition, batteries, fuel tank and other accessories of your choice. These are also great planes for towing gliders aloft or cargo carrying for airshow drops or video equipment to survey and photograph large plots of land. If operator chooses to use an electric motor with this model instead of gas we recommend using a motor that is equivalent to at least a 40cc gas engine to achieve the best performance and best flight time. Please feel free to ask any questions, this is an introductory price that will change after the holiday season. Please allow at least 1 week for item to ship since we sell out of these kits rather quickly, but are always cutting new ones. This kit takes approximately 4-5 days to fully cut on the laser and to inspect all the parts prior to shipping if we are all out of ready made kits. Assembly time is dependent on experience, most of our customers average 20 to 30 hours in assembly and covering and several more hours in testing equipment, radio, engine etc.
