RE: Merlin Kero Start
Steve,
The Kero start versions release was postponed while we concentrated on keeping production up with demand in addition to making some cosmetic changes to the wiring on the Merlin. These changes are almost finalized, focus should resume on the Kero start version soon. I dont expect release on this version before fall of 2005.

RE: Merlin Kero Start
Hey Gaspar,
How soon do you predict the kero start 90 will be available at Dreamworks. Will it possibly be available by next month, I am looking to buy the kero start version.
Thanks,
Mike

Next month not, sure. I don't think that it will be available for to sell in less than 8-10 weeks, just now we have begin the tests in the field, and the weather is not good for a lot of flying.

Have 4 M90 kerostart engines in hands of local pilots for field tests, and they have found few issues, wich are in the way of being corrected. Not a fixed data yet, sorry.

RE: Merlin Kero Start
Got my Kero start Merlin 90 today. All looks great.
It has all the bits like the gas start except there is no wire to the glow plug!
So does the kero start have an internal ceramic element for the kero start?
Also I presume you can change it back to gas start if required? Can this be done?
I plan to test bench it before install into my FEJ F 16 in the next few days.

Mav,
Please post a flight report on your FEJ F-16. I have a Wren SS in mine. It flies OK, but I wish it had a little more push. I'm thinking that a Merlin 90 or Jet Central Rabbit would be just about right.

RE: Merlin Kero Start
Ok tried to start my Merlin 90 Kero, but does not inginte. Times out error message Ignite fail?
I will try charging the ECU batt again 2S lipo 2500 ma and see what happens. Can you adjust the internal glow power?
Can I hook up the gas line and solenoid and use a gas start for the Kero Merlin? What ECU parameters would need to be changed?

RE: Merlin Kero Start
Maybe you should be asking these questions to the person you bought the engine off?
Seems like a waste to convert it back to gas start. Just get it sorted first.

RE: Merlin Kero Start
OK Gaspar solved my problem. Did not have the M 90 Kero manual with the engine. It is on the Jets Munt site for those interested. I had it connected wrong and after reading the manual got it started on Kero!!!
It runs quite flamy around idle and initial throttle up? Is this normal for the Merlins? As you increase throttle from idle I get a 5 inch flame in day light? Runs very different to my Rabbit no flames at all.
Also during the kero start sequence it pops a bit with little flames as the temp increases and takes quite a while before the main fuel ramps? This is my first Merlin and Kero start so not sure what is normal or not!
Merlin owners chime in please.
