Satelite recievers
Guys I am new to flying, I have been bashing for quite a while but flying less than 6 months. I am happy with the orange radio and reciever but was wondering what is the difference between the regular reciever at 2.4ghz and a satelite reciever. Is it just a distance thing? I also notice the satelite recievers only utilize one wire? and are usually much smaller. I am very interested in the ups and downs of a satelite reciever and what they help with. If in the wrong forum I appologize but this is for a quad copter if that helps.

A satellite receiver gives you better range and better reception because it spreads out the signal receiving capability of your primary receiver. It also gets another "ear" out away from some of the electrical components. The satellite receiver augments the signal getting to the primary receiver. The satellite receiver is not something you use on it's own. It goes into the port on the side of your primary receiver. It's not totally necessary but it is good insurance against signal loss.

Glad to be of help. I don't normally use them on my quads because I use the 8ch rx's that have two whips and I don't fly terribly far out with them but I do have satellites on a couple of planes that I fly further out.
